Sergio Enrique Moya

Possui graduação em Química pela Universidad Nacional del Sur - Argentina (1996) e doutorado em Físico-Química pelo Instituto Max Planck de Coloides e Interfaces (2001). Realizou pós-doutorado na Universität Leipzig (2001-2002), College de France .(2002-2003) e University of Cambridge (2003-2005). Atualmente é pesquisador e líder de grupo no Centro de Investigación Cooperativa en Biomateriales (CIC biomaGUNE) em San Sebastian, Espanha Tem experiência na área de Química, com ênfase em química de interfaces e nanotecnologia, particularmente no uso de polímeros, biomoléculas e nanomateriais em biomedicina, no estudo da físico-química desses materiais em escala manométrica e na interação de nanomateriais com células, biomoléculas e organismos.

    Higraphen Hierarchical functionalization and assembly of Graphene for multiple device fabrication, Descrição: HIGRAPHENE aims to achieve the organization and integration of GO sheets with heterogeneous components of different sizes and compositions into higher level structures/assemblies and devices. Components include polyelectrolytes, conductive polymers,, magnetic nanoparticles, nanorods and quantum dots. The aim of the HIGRAPHEN is to control nanoscale structure and property complexity of graphene assemblies. HIGRAPHENE will integrate, graphene, with inorganic particles and polymeric and organic species to develop building blocks for assembly and to understand the principles underlying their interaction that are fundamental to control GO assembly and integration in devices. The optical and electronic properties of the fabricated materials and assemblies will be studied, as well as their mechanical stability and permeability to small molecules and ions; their performance in devices as electrodes, their stability in aggressive media and their protective properties against corrosion in appropriate environments will also be tested HIGRAPHEN will integrate the graphene assemblies into macroscopic anticorrosive coatings and devices for opto electronic applications and energy conversion. A main objective in HIGRAPHENE is to achieve supercapacitor electrodes on the basis of GO assembly. The project aimsenerate a versatile platform for the nanoscale functional devices on the basis of GO that will contribute towards industrialisation of new energy and material efficient products and innovative processes. To achieve these goals a strong international partnership has been built among European and Latinoamerican research groups with complementary expertises in Chemistry, Physics and Material Science. From the European side the group at CIC biomaGUNE, Spain, provides expertise in self assembly and material characterization while the group at CNRS has expertise on the synthesis of nanomaterials. The non European partners bring to HIGRAPHENE expertise in graphene chemistry, the group from CIQA in Mexico; in physics of magnetic materials and devices, the group from FUB in Brasil; and in electrochemistry, he groups at CONICET in Argentina.     Viroma Design of a versatile and fast colloidal sensor based on virus modified particles, Descrição: "Viroma project aims to fabricate multiplexed bead-based arrays as sensing devices on the basis of virus capsid and virosome Layer by Layer-assisted assembly on colloidal carriers. The virosome based platform technology will be suitable for the detection of several analytes ranging from comparatively small molecules, of the size of dioxins to larger biomolecules such as small proteins. Such systems are fast and sensitive, and require due to multiplexing and single particle based fluorometric read-outs only a very small amount of sample for analysis and is, suitable for high throughput analysis. The uniqueness of the approach developed in VIROMA is that the virus particles will retain their specific recognition properties provided by the virus capsides and transfer this specificity to the colloidal carrier. Moreover, the possibility of assembling different virus nanoparticles and virosomes on top of the colloids will result in particles with multiple recognition capabilities, going a step ahead nature. Depending on the analytes size two different detection mechanisms will be employed. If the analyte is a larger peptide or protein, a sandwich immunoassay can be employed with the capture antibody integrated into the virosome and transferred to the bead by means of virosome-membrane fusion. The fluorescence will be recorded with a flowcytometry using a colloidal dispersion of the beads or a laser scanning microscope if the beads are immobilized on a chip. As an example, we will assemble beads capable of detecting troponin, a standard marker for myocardial infarction. For small molecule s specific receptor molecules will be designed for a competitive assay. Translocation and nanosafety design of metal and metal oxide Nanoparticles, Descrição: BRASINOEU aims to study the translocation and nanosafety issues of engineered metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs).The new scientific and technology developments of nanotechnology require a deeper knowledge of the effects of nanotechnology based products on human health. The project encompass the synthesis of metal oxide NPs, with a focus on magnetic oxides, their surface modification and post modification in biological fluids; immunological and genotoxicity studies, and translocation studies both in vitro and in vivo . The project will seek to establish relationships between designed NP properties and their translocation at cellular and body level as well as their immune- and genotoxic response. This is a fundamental issue for the safe design of NPs. Also, the toxicological response will be studied as a function of the uptake dose of NPs.     LBLbrane: Active nanomembranes/-filters/-adsorbents for efficient water treatment with stable or regenerable low-fouling surfaces, Descrição: LbLBRANE applies novel nanotechnology tools, namely the layer-by-layer (LbL) technology to develop a versatile and generic procedure for the fast fabrication of low-cost, stable, chemical-resistant polyelectrolyte membranes. The project aims to fabricate high performance, regenerable membranes which could be cleaned in-situ and hybrid membranes with extremely high flux with high permselectivity and mechanical robustness.
