Possui graduação em Medicina pela Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1981); mestrado em Imunologia e Microbiologia pela Escola Paulista de Medicina (1985); doutorado em Imunologia e Microbiologia pela University of Ulm, Alemanha (1990); e livre docência em Imunologia pela University of Ulm (1997). Atualmente é imunologista e consultor preclínico e clínico para o desenvolvimento de medicamentos biológicos e sintéticos.
