Vimal Veeriah

Doctor of Philosophy in Biotechnology at Anna University, Chennai, India (2015). He has a long-standing expertise in the angiogenesis field during his PhD. He has dedicated a large part of his early research career to understand the molecular mechanisms regulating angiogenesis. He has attained very good technical skills in angiogenesis in vivo and in vitro experiments. During his PhD, he obtained the Marie Curie fellowship under the INTERBONE exchange programme to visit Bone Biopathology Laboratory, headed by Professor Anna Maria Teti, University of L Aquila, Italy. During this visit he had extensive training on various bone related experiments in vivo and in vitro. Skil sets: Maintaining mammalian cell lines, Primary cell isolation, culture and maintenance (Bovine aortic endothelial cells, Bovine pulmonary endothelial cell, HUVEC, Osteoblast and Osteoclast). Stem cell, neuronal cell and cardiomyocyte culture. In vivo studies using mice model. Developmental studies using Chick, Zebra fish and mice embryo models. Behavioral Studies and Neurotoxicity assessments Using Zebrafish model. Whole mount in-situ hybridization, FISH, Immunohisto chemistry, Histology, comet assay, TUNEL assay, Annexin V & PI (apoptotic) assay, Cartilage staining (Alcian green/red) Benzidine staining blood island and primary plexus, blood vessels. Fluorescent staining of Blood vessel using FITC. ALP staining, Von Kossa staining. Transformation, Transfection and Electroporation in embryos and cells. PCR amplification, Restriction digestion, Cloning, Western Blotting, Southern Blotting, Real Time PCR, sq-RT PCR, Chemical and electro transformation, Site directed mutagenesis. Cell based assays; Boyden chamber (migration) assay, Immunofluorescence, cell permeability assays, Tryphan blue based cell viability assay, MTT assay.Angiogenesis experimental models: Egg yolk angiogenesis assay, Chick aortic ring assay, Matrigel tube formation, Cell migration, endothelial ring formation, CAM and Scratch-wound healing models, Angioquant software.
