E-commerce e inteligência artificial: investimento direto, novas infraestruturas produtivas e reconfigurações do trabalho, Descrição: Este projeto tem como objetivo principal analisar as consequências de investimento direto de empresas de e-commerce e os seus impactos sobre um país do Sul Global, o Brasil, com destaque para os efeitos do uso de inteligência artificial (IA) e da transferência dessa tecnologia. Assim, busca-se determinar se o uso de IA em empresas de e-commerce (1) contribui para aumentos da produção em determinados ramos da indústria, com foco no setor dos vestuários e calçados, na logística e na venda, (2) se afeta os salários e as condições de trabalho em armazéns (e centros de distribuição), transporte e produção (3) e se esses investimentos levam a uma concentração de capital e de monopolização dos mercados. As quatro empresas no foco dessa pesquisa são a Shein, a joint venture Magulu3/ Aliexpress, a Amazon e o Mercado Livre. O uso de IA em várias etapas da venda, produção e logística é uma vantagem decisiva que as empresas de e-commerce obtêm, requerendo investimentos enormes nessa tecnologia. O modelo de e-commerce facilita a oferta de um número maior de produtos, utilizando-se da criação de imagens via IA na apresentação destes. Ganhos de produtividade, preços menores e maior qualidade dos produtos estão entre os benefícios para as empresas no uso de IA. Por outro lado, os efeitos negativos desta tecnologia podem ser verificados no trabalho precarizado, no aumento de pressão aos fornecedores, na monopolização de mercados e na remessa de lucros para outras economias nacionais. Assim, esta pesquisa utilizará de diversas estratégias metodológicas para analisar esta questão, buscando-se a mobilização de diversos domínios teóricos. As relações entre Estados Unidos e América Latina no contexto de acirramento da competição com a China (2017-2026), Descrição: Após a crise de 2008, a intensificação da presença chinesa na América Latina tem representado um desafio para a política externa dos Estados Unidos. O acirramento das disputas entre China e Estados Unidos tende a afetar as relações internacionais na região. O capital chinês desembarca na região em busca principalmente de matérias primas e combustíveis e nos últimos anos tem avançando sobre novos setores como o de serviços de engenharia e obras de infraestrutura bem como sobre os setores mais dinâmicos da economia. O objeto deste projeto é analisar possíveis implicações comerciais, econômicas e geopolíticas decorrentes da crescente presença da China na região no contexto de acirramento das disputas com os Estados Unidos tendo como foco três países: Brasil, Argentina e México. Mass Strikes and Social Movements in India and Brazil, Descrição: Since the onset of the world financial crisis a new cycle of labour unrest emerged around the world. This rise of labour unrest in emerging economies is part of a global wave of protests and strikes that followed the economic and financial crisis in 2007/2008. Given the massive tendencies of a concentration of political and economic power in the wake of this crisis and the crisis of democratic representation resulting from this, these popular movements constitute a counter tendency to broaden means of political participation - but the organisational forms that emerge from these movements have not yet been investigated and understood thoroughly. Thus, an understanding of these new alliances and forms of organisations will enable to conceive of new ways of democratic engagement and participatory politics that provide responses and solutions to the ongoing crisis of democratic participation. The objective of this research project is to construct a new initial theory on strikes that is able to take account of the manifold linkages between strike movements and community organisations. Therefore, I will investigate four case studies of mass strikes, two in the Indian automobile industry, and two in the Brazilian construction industry and the new forms of cross-movement alliances that emerged in these strikes. These sectors were the focus of mass strikes in this period in the respective national economies. These strikes have not been investigated in depth yet, and exhibited features that indicate new trends of labour movements in the emerging economies. Thus, they are examples of a wider trend in the new industrializing countries.
