Marilena Aquino de Muro

possui graduação em pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1984) e mestrado pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1988). Foi pesquisador concursado do Instituto Adolfo Lutz em Sao Paulo capital, e curador colecao de culturas da Fundação Tropical de Pesquisas e Tecnologia André Tosello em Campinas, SP. Tem experiência na área de Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos, com ênfase em Microbiologia de Alimentos. De 1990 a 1993, cursou e obteve o Doutorado em Microbiologia (PhD) na Heriot-Watt University na Escocia, Reino Unido. Na sua tese de doutorado desenvolveu sondas geneticas para identificacao de isolados patogenicos de Bacillus sphaericus, com aplicacao na taxonomia dessa especie bacteriana. Produziu pesquisa de pos-doutorado em estabilidade de repeticoes de genes no genoma de Saccharomyces cerevisae, na New York University Medical Centre em 1994. Retornou a Heriot-Watt University em 1995 ate 1997 onde desenvolveu trabalho de pos-doutorado com manipulacao genetica de Bacillus sphaericus. Fez tambem um terceiro pos-doutorado de 2 anos na Aalborg University, Dinamarca (1998-1999), onde desenvolveu pesquisa em tecnicas moleculares para estudar a fisiologia in situ de bacterias em lodo ativo em tratamento de aguas e esgotos. Foi pesquisador efetivo do CABI Bioscience, Egham, Reino Unido de Janeiro 2000 a Dezembro 2006, onde trabalhou como biologista molecular junto ao grupo de biopesticidas, desenvolvendo marcadores geneticos para estudos de genetica de populacao de fungos entomopatogenicos, como tambem supervisionou a producao em massa de esporos fungicos para formulacao de biopesticidas e aplicacao em campo. Atualmente e pesquisador do Instituto de Biotecnologia e professor convidado da Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), Rio Grande do Sul, trabalhando com o grupo de Controle Biológico de Doenças de Plantas desde 03/2007.
