  Artificial Intelligence for Condition Assessment of Critical Infrastructure: Challenges, Risks and Rewards, Descrição: The proposed project is a unique opportunity to develop tools that will build upon the current state-of the art of dealing with aging critical infrastructure. It offers a chance to bring critically needed first warning to communities which are otherwise at high risk from insufficiently assessed aging infrastructure. Since the eventual utilization of the above tools will largely depend on their reliability, an additional, important component of the research will require validation of the proposed automated tools through the assessment of real structures exposed to distinct macro-climates. However, the research team, through their deep involvements in technical committees, will leverage a network of collaborators in North-America, South-America and Europe, where concrete structures affected by various deterioration mechanisms have been already identified and monitored over years of field and laboratory activities.
