Fernando Esteban Montero de Oliveira

Fernando Esteban Montero holds a double degree in Forestry Engineering and Biotechnology. Working as a consultant for a Brazilian Conservation NGO for the last 4 years, he has developed Protected Area Management Planning, focusing on Ecotourism and Financial Sustainability. His multi-disciplinary perspectives and terrain knowledge come from his work alongside local communities in South America, empowering youth entrepreneurship, as a wilderness ranger in the US and ranger trainer in Brazil. He is currently carrying out his MSc in European Forestry at the University of Eastern Finland, in Joensuu. In 2018 he finnished a post-graduate Diploma in Ecotourism and Nature-Guide at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In November of 2018, Esteban has been awarded a scholarship to further his knowledge in Sustainable Tourism and Rural Areas Local Development at the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO), in Turin. He shows excellent scientific research methods, land use planning and rights, management for sustainable use of natural resources, and more effective strategies to guarantee financial sustainability of private and public natural areas. Fernando Esteban has a comprehensive experience of nature conservation and rural areas sustainable development strategies in the US, Brazil and Europe. He is bilingual in Portuguese and Spanish, fluent in English and French.
