Dynamics of Be star disks, Descrição: Circumstellar disks of Be stars, that are formed from matter ejected from the central star, are governed by a very rich physics in which viscosity plays an important role and that could have much in common to other objects such as active galactic nuclei (AGNs) and accretion disks around compact objects (e.g. X-ray binaries). Our group have developed state-of-the-art theoretical tools to analyse the dynamical behaviour of a Be disk fed by non-constant decretion rates. They are mainly based on the computer code HDUST, a fully three-dimensional radiative transfer code that has been succesfully applied to studying several Be systems so far. We study models of the temporal evolution of different types of Be star disks for different dynamical scenarios. By showing the behaviour of a large number of observables (interferometry, polarization, photometry and spectral line profiles), we investigate how it is possible to infer from observations the dynamical status of the disk.. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Haubois Xavier - Coordenador / Alex C. GRAVITY : Probing Space-Time and Faint Objects in the Infrared, Descrição: We introduce a new infrared adaptive optics assisted multiple-beam instrument for the VLTI infrastructure. GRAVITY (standing for General Relativity Analysis via VLT InterferometrY) will allow simultaneous observations of two objects by phase-referenced interferometric imaging and narrow angle astrometry with a high sensitivity. For those reasons, GRAVITY is particularly suited for observing various types of faint targets of deep interest in the near-infrared such as AGNs, starclusters, intermediate black holes, substellar objects, planets. Precisely, one of the main goal of GRAVITY is to probe space time around the intermediate mass black hole at the center of our galaxy. We will able to detect relativistic effects at a few Schwarzschild radii of the center of the black hole thanks to an astrometric accuracy of 10 micro arcseconds. We will present the instrumental concept of GRAVITY and discuss some of the future scientific prospects that it will offer.. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Haubois Xavier - Coordenador / Guy Perrin - Integrante / Stefan Gillessen - Integrante / Frank Eisenhauer - Integrante / Sebastian Rabien - Integrante / Sylvestre Lacour - Integrante / J.-P. Multiplicity of early type stars, Descrição: The multiplicity of early-type stars is still not well established. The derived binary fraction is different for individual star forming regions, suggesting a connection with the age and the environment conditions. The few studies that have investigated this connection do not provide conclusive results. To fill in this gap, we started the first detailed adaptive-optic-assisted imaging survey of early-type field stars to derive their multiplicity in a homogeneous way. The sample has been extracted from the Hipparcos Catalog and consists of 341 BA-type stars within 300 pc from the Sun. We report the current status of the survey and describe a Monte-Carlo simulation that estimates the completeness of our companion detection.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Haubois Xavier - Coordenador / Ivanov Valentin - Integrante / Chauvin, G. - Integrante / Foellmi, C. - Integrante / Hartung, M. - Integrante / Huélamo, N. - Integrante / Nürnberger, D. - Integrante / Sterzik, M. - Integrante.

Brown Dwarfs variability, Descrição: We present J-band photometric observations of eight late-L and T type brown dwarfs designed to search for variability. We detect small amplitude periodic variability from three of the objects on time-scales of several hours, probably indicating the rotation period of the objects. The other targets do not show any variability down to the level of 0.5-5 per cent. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Haubois Xavier - Coordenador / Clarke Fraser - Integrante.

The Galactic Center large program, Descrição: We report a multi-epoch and multi-wavelength observation campaign of the Galactic Center. Some results are first presented before stressing more specifically the 8.6 micron observations obtained with VLT/VISIR used in burst mode during three nights in July 2007. The high angular resolution provided by this mode allows diffraction limited imaging and gives access to the sharpest details ever achieved in this zone. These observations were carried out simultaneously to a flare coming from Sgr A* area, detected with VLT/NACO. Their analysis further constrains the SED (spectral energy distribution) of the flares and gives indications on the emitting processes of Sgr A*.. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Haubois Xavier - Coordenador / Reinhard Genzel - Integrante / Guy Perrin - Integrante / Stefan Gillessen - Integrante / Frank Eisenhauer - Integrante / Dodds-Eden, K. - Integrante.
