Sílvia Lopes Ferreira Martins

Possui graduação em Engenharia Biológica pela Universidade do Minho (Braga, Portugal) (2005), mestrado em Ciência e Tecnologia dos Alimentos pela University College Cork (Irlanda) (2008), e doutorado em Engenharia Química e Biológica pela Universidade do Minho (Braga, Portugal) (2012). Tem experiência na área de bioquímica, com ênfase na extração de compostos bioativos de plantas medicinais e resíduos agroindustriais a partir de distintas técnicas; processos de fermentação em estado sólido para a recuperação de compostos bioativos de fontes naturais, assim como para a produção de compostos de importante valor agregado; determinação de compostos fenólicos, flavonoides, proteínas e açúcares em extratos vegetais; determinação da atividade antioxidante, antibacteriana e antitumoral de extratos vegetais. Sua área de interesse incide no estudo de tecnologias limpas (técnicas com baixos custos de operação e menor impacto ambiental) para a extração de compostos bioativos de fontes naturais e resíduos agroindustriais; e, na avaliação biológica de extratos de plantas medicinais e resíduos agroindustriais.
