Guilherme Martin Torres

Possui Graduação em Engenharia Agronômica (2008) pela Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas da Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) de Botucatu, Mestrado em Plant and Soil Sciences (2011) e Doutorado em Soil Sciences (2012) pela Oklahoma State University, EUA, com ênfase em Agricultura de Precisão e Fertilidade de Plantas e Solos. Durante o ultimo ano de graduação (2007 a 2008), realizou estágio na área de Geo-Processamento e Sensoriamento Remoto na Unidade Costa Pinto do Grupo COSAN S.A. localizado em Piracicaba, SP. No Mestrado realizou diversas pesquisas com adubação foliar e sensoriamento remoto para manejo de nitrogênio. Além disso, atuou como Teaching Assistant onde era responsável por coordenar aulas práticas para 23 alunos de graduação e pós-graduação no Plant and Soil Sciences Department. Participou de pesquisas no Centro Internacional de Melhoramento de Milho e Trigo no México em 2009 e 2010, e da equipe de extensão do Soil Fertility Project. Durante o Doutorado, trabalhou com posicionamento de sementes de milho para manipulação do dossel, com o propósito de aumentar a interceptação solar e a produtividade da cultura do milho. Ainda no Doutorado, foi contratado pela The Mosaic Company como consultor para a realização de Análises Estatísticas de experimentos conduzidos pela empresa na América do Sul.

Experiência com aplicação de fertilizantes e produtos químicos, assim como plantio, manejo e colheita. Experimentos incluem pesquisa com trigo, milho, sorgo e soja. Liderei os trabalhos de fertilização foliar com fósforo nas culturas em milho e trigo, e as pesquisas com plantio de precisão e orientação das folhas de milho para maximizar interceptação de radiação solar e promover aumento da produtividade.
