DFG project (Germany) "Nuclear resonance modes with Skyrme forces", Descrição: Self-consistent mean-field models with Skyrme forces are established as reliable tools for describing nuclear structure and dynamics. In the present project we apply the (self-consistent) separable random-phase-approximation (SRPA) with Skyrme forces, developed by our group, to the investigation of E1 giant resonances (GR), low-energy E1 strength, and M1 modes in deformed nuclei. The method is fully self-consistent and takes care of all terms of the Skyrme interaction. This concerns in particular the terms with time-odd current and spin density, which is essential for keeping Galilean invariance and a reasonable description of electric and magnetic GR. By virtue of the factorization of the residual interaction, SRPA dramatically decreases the computational expense and so allows large-scale systematic studies of nuclear excitation spectra. We have exploited that in our previous DFG projects to investigate isovector E1(T=1) and isoscalar E2(T=0) GR in rare-earth, actinide and super-heavy nuclei. % The aim of the present project is to continue these studies with several new aspects. Namely, we plan to deepen the systematic analysis of E1 modes with particular attention to the dipole strength below E1(T=1) GR, including such features as toroidal strength and vorticity. We will also start investigations on the isoscalar E0 mode in connection to nuclear surface and volume incompressibility. As the most ambitious aim, we plan to explore the spin M1 mode which is a challenge for Skyrme mean-field models as it requires good knowledge spin coupling terms not yet well calibrated in traditional Skyrme forces.. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / P G Reinhard - Integrante.

Votruba-Blokhintsev project "Actual Aspects of Nuclear and Transport Dynamics" (continuation), Descrição: This project is a natural continuation of our long-term collaboration in investigation of nuclear collective dynamics. For the survey of giant resonances (GR) the self-consistent separable random-phase approximation (SRPA) approach based on Skyrme forces is applied. SRPA dramatically decreases the computational effort and thus allows the systematic exploration of nuclear excitations even in heavy deformed nuclei. In the previous studies, different aspects the E1(T=1), E2(T=0) and E0(T=0) GR were investigated. The influence of nuclear deformation on the low-energy E1 strength near the particle thresholds was scrutinized and shown to be dramatically reduced due to a specific compensation effect. For the first time, the spin-flip M1 GR was systematically investigated within RPA with Skyrme forces. It was shown that description of this GR meets serious troubles and calls for a considerable modification of the forces, including the tensor contribution. The nuclear vorticity in E1 excitations was also studied. In this project we will continue exploration of the problems mentioned above. In particular, the low-energy E1 strength (which is of a keen interest for understanding some astrophysical problems) will be studied in the chains of Nd and Sn isotopes, taking into account the impact of the pygmy resonance. Possible ways to improve description of spin-flip M1 GR will be inspected, first of all, inclusion of tensor forces. The calculations for the scissors M1 mode will be performed. The exploration of the nuclear vorticity in E1 modes (origin, energy localization, relation with toroidal strength, ...) will be continued. Low-energy states in odd nuclei will be inspected. Being sensitive to details of Skyrme and pairing forces, these states represent a challenge for the theory. Finally, adiabatic transport protocols for multi-well finite systems will be inspected .. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Graduação: (1) / Doutorado: (3) . , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / W Kleinig - Integrante / J Kvasil - Integrante.

project of University of Paul Sabatier "Adiabatic transport of Bose-Einstein condensate in multi-well traps", Descrição: The complete irreversible transport of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in multi-well traps will be explored within adiabatic population transfer techniques. In particular, the Stimulated Raman Adiabatic Passage (STIRAP) and generalized Landau-Zener (LZ) schemes will be used for triple-well and double-well traps. Our previous studies have shown that nonlinearity caused by interaction between BEC atoms is detrimental for STIRAP but can be turned into a useful factor for LZ. The previous calculations were performed in the mean-field approximation within the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. In this project, the developed transport techniques will be checked for more realistic case when quantum fluctuations are important. Besides, some basic approximations (two-mode approximation, space-time factorization, ...) will be tested. Finally, the optimal and realistic transport protocols will be proposed. For these aim, the codes for electron dynamics in atomic clusters will be modified and applied. Some important aspects of BEC tunneling dynamics will be also considered (population-phase behavior, generation and exploration of topological phases, etc).. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / E Suraud - Integrante.

CNRS project (France) "Spectroscopy of atomic clusters", Descrição: The present project is a natural prolongation of our long-term collaboration in spectroscopy of atomic clusters. As a first part, we plan to continue investigation of infrared electron modes in deformed metal clusters by means of two-photon methods. These modes represent an essential part of electron dynamics driven by cluster deformation and their observation is a non-trivial task significant for spectroscopy of electronic states in nanosystems in general. For this aim we plan to modify and apply the two-photon SCRAP (Stark-shift-chirped rapid adiabatic passage) method. As a second part of the project, the spectroscopy of carbon systems, including the smallest fullerene $C_{20}$, will be explored. In relation with the recent experimental effort, the main attention will be paid to angular distribution of emitted electrons. Altogether, both parts of the project aim to develop effective methods to study electron single-particle spectra near the HOMO-LUMO gap. These spectra are very sensitive to diverse properties of clusters and so can serve as an effective tool for their exploration.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / E Suraud - Integrante / P.M. Heisenberg-Landau project "Investigation of nuclear dynamics with Skyrme forces", Descrição: Self-consistent mean-field models with Skyrme forces are established as reliable tools for description of nuclear structure and dynamics. In the present project we apply our novel self-consistent random-phase-approximation (SRPA) method with Skyrme forces for investigation of giant resonances (GR) and low-energy states in deformed nuclei. SRPA dramatically decreases the computational effort which is necessary for large deformed systems. As a result, the systematic exploration of nuclear excitations becomes possible. We plan to investigate, in a systematic manner, both low-energy and high-energy modes. In the first round, we will concentrate to electric GR, in particular to the isovector E1 resonance. We aim at establishing relations between characteristics of the E1-GR and isovector properties of the underlying Skyrme forces (isovector effective mass, symmetry energy, surface symmetry energy, ...). Besides, we plan to investigate low-energy excitations in deformed super-heavy nuclei in connection with actual and future experiments of Laboratory of Nuclear Reaction (JINR). Exploratory studies of magnetic modes are also at the schedule.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / P G Reinhard - Integrante / W Kleinig - Integrante.

DFG (Germany) projrect "TDDFT study of nuclear and cluster dynamics", Descrição: We plan to investigate the isovector giant dipole resonance in nuclei by \marginpar{mod} self-consistent models using the Skyrme force. A systematic exploration throughout the whole chart of isotopes, including the exotic regimes, will be done with the aim to work out the relation of the trends in peak position, collective peak splitting and spectral fragmentation to the structure of the underlying Skyrme forces. This should serve for a better calibration of the isovector part of the forces and extension of the model to cope with unresolved trends. % Besides that, low-energy excitations in deformed super-heavy nuclei will be explored in connection with recent and upcoming experiments.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / P G Reinhard - Integrante.

Votruba-Blokhintsev project "Actual Aspects of Nuclear Dynamics", Descrição: This project is a natural continuation of our long-term collaboration in investigation of nuclear structure. The project is devoted to a microscopic study of particular actual problems of nuclear collective dynamics. A recently developed separable Skyrme-RPA (SRPA) scheme for non-rotating axial systems will be applied for survey of giant resonances (GR) and low-energy states in deformed nuclei. SRPA dramatically decreases the computational effort and thus allows the systematic exploration of nuclear excitations. We will investigate the electric GR %in particular to the isovector E1 resonance, so as to establish relations between GR properties, from one side, and nuclear matter characteristics and parameters of Skyrme forces from another side. Besides, the low-energy excitations in deformed super-heavy nuclei will be explored in connection with actual experiments of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reaction (JINR). The Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) scheme for the consistent treatment of pairing in the mean field of axial nuclei will be implemented to our Skyrme codes. In rotating nuclei, the relation between the backbending and mean-field spontaneous symmetry breaking effects will be analyzed. The contribution of the RPA correlations (quadrupole and octupole type) to the moment of inertia will be investigated. The properties of the wobbling mode as a fingerprint of the triaxilaity induced by the nuclear rotation will be studied.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / W Kleinig - Integrante / J Kvasil - Integrante / R G Nazmitdinov - Integrante.

project of University of Paul Sabatier "Infrared electron modes in atomic clusters: implementation of two-photon processes", Descrição: Infrared electron quadrupole modes in deformed atomic clusters represent an essential part of electron dynamics driven by cluster deformation. The present project is the prolongation of our studies to clarify the origin and main properties of these modes as well as the possible routs of their experimental observation in two-photon processes (direct two-photon population (DTP), off-resonant stimulated Raman (ORSR), stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP), Stark-shift-chirped rapid adiabatic passage(SCRAP)). These processes are widely used in atomic and molecular spectroscopy but not still for atomic clusters. We will show that, in spite of cluster peculiarities, some particular two-photon schemes can be applied to clusters. The light free deformed clusters %and oriented rods (large clusters) at the surface will will be used as the relevant samples. The analysis will be based on macroscopic estimations (rotation wave approximation for $\Lambda$-systems) and detailed microscopic calculations at the level of the time-dependent local density approximation (TDLDA). The main attention will be paid to infrared electron quadrupole modes which can deliver valuable information on diverse properties of atomic clusters. In particular, the single-electron spectra above the HOMO-LUMO gap can be obtained. We have already performed first studies of DTP and ORSR and proposed the optimal schemes for future experiments. Now we plan to deepen and enlarge the study by application of more involved TDLDA methods and consideration of the promising adiabatic methods like STIRAP and SCRAP. We have a long-term collaboration during last years and all the necessary tools to attack the tasks of the project.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / E Suraud - Integrante.

In particular, TDDFT in the linear regime (in terms of random phase approximation or RPA) is widely applied to nuclei and atomic clusters. In the present project we implement different TDDFT approaches to investigation of giant resonances (GR) and low-energy collective modes in deformed atomic nuclei and non-dipole modes in deformed atomic clusters. In the former case, the self-consistent separable RPA for Skyrme forces, recently developed by our group, will be used. The method dramatically decreases the computational effort which is essential if not crucial for deformed nuclei. We plan to investigate the dipole modes in connection with recent experiments in Rossendorf and to scrutinize GR in particular deformed exotic nuclei. In the second case, the TDDFT in the local density approximation (TDLDA) for the Kohn-Sham functional will be applied to develop and justify the procedures for generation and detection of infrared quadrupole modes (IRQM) in free deformed light sodium clusters. These procedures give the unique chance to determine the electronic mean-field spectrum above the Fermi level and estimate some fundamental time scales. Actually they specifies application of two-photon methods of atomic and molecular spectroscopy to atomic clusters. The main attention will be paid to stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) method.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / P G Reinhard - Integrante / W Kleinig - Integrante.

DFG (Germany) project "DYNAMICS OF MESOSCOPIC SYSTEMS: BEYOND DIPOLE MODE", Descrição: Besides the dominant dipole Mie plasmon, many other electron modes, both electric and magnetic, can exist in atomic clusters \cite{Ne_SN}. The similar multipole modes were already found in other many-fermion systems, e.g. in atomic nuclei, and it is a demanding problem to observe them in atomic clusters. The multipole electron modes are connected with basic cluster properties and represent an essential part of electron dynamics in both collective and electron-hole domains. In this project, we will study one of the most promising cases, infrared quadrupole mode (IRQM), and outline possible routes of its experimental observation. We will consider IRQM in two particular systems: small deformed free sodium clusters and oriented silver rods embedded into glass matrices. Following our preliminary estimations, IRQM in these systems can deliver very interesting physics and besides have a real chance to be observed in experiment.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / P G Reinhard - Integrante.

Heisenber-Landau project "Electronic structure of atomic clusters", Descrição: The electronic structure of atomic clusters has been much investigated over the past two decades and it is still a topic of high actual interest. Recent photoelectron data on the level densities confirm the existence of quantum shells for valence electrons and give access to single-particle spectra. Being very sensitive to clusters properties (cluster deformation, shapes isomers, ionic structure, liquid or solid phases, temperature regimes, etc), the spectra can serve as indicators of these properties. There is still no clear experimental access to the electron spectra above the HOMO. In order to acquire more information in that regime, we propose to implement two-photon processes (TPP) widely used in atomic and molecular physics. TPP allow to measure the electron-hole infrared quadrupole modes (IRQM) and thus to access, in combination with the photoelectron data, the spectra above HOMO. Light deformed clusters seem to be especially interesting and suitable for TPP. In the previous project, we explored the origin and properties of IRQM and estimated the perspectives of TPP for light deformed clusters. In the present project, we want to launch a fully microscopic TDLDA study of TPP in light deformed atomic clusters. This study should provide guidelines for the most promising experimental conditions.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador / P G Reinhard - Integrante.

MPI-PKS project "Multipole plasmons in metal clusters", Descrição: Within the project the microscopic description of non-dipole electronic excitations in spherical and deformed atomic clusters was done. The most promising experimental rotes of experimental generation and detection were critically scrutinized. Namely the inelastic electron scattering and various two-photon processes (Raman scattering (RS), Stimulated Emitted Pumping (SEP), Stimulated Adiabatic Raman Passage (STRAP), etc) were considered. It was shown that RS, SEP and STIRAP can indeed be applied to atomic clusters, in spite of some cluster pequliarities. The dipole plasmon can serve as the intermediate state in two-photon process. The intense femtosecond lasers are most relevant tools. The reactions with an appreciable detuning are most suitable. The oprimal experiment schemes were developed. The two-photon reactions with intense femtosecond lasers can provide valuable information about infrared electron states of atomic clusters. . , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Graduação: (0) / Especialização: (0) / Mestrado acadêmico: (0) / Mestrado profissional: (0) / Doutorado: (0) . , Integrantes: Valentin Olegovich Nesterenko - Coordenador., Financiador(es): Max Planck Institut Fur Physik Komplexer Systeme - Bolsa., Número de produções C, T & A: 2
