Possui doutorado em Fisica pela Universita Statale Di Milano(1964). Atualmente é Associado do Istituto Nazionale Di Fisica Nucleare e funcionário do Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas. Tem experiência na área de Física, com ênfase em Física Atômica e Molecular. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas:Maxwell Bloch equations, Sine Gordon instability, hyperbolic secant soliton, electromagnetic field, density matrix e laser physics.

Brazil Free Electron Laser (BRAFEL), Descrição: Construir um FEL operando na faixa do infravermelho baseada em duas razões básicas. Construção de um FEL simples e de baixo custo, que permita desenvolver capacitação científica e técnica nesta tecnologia no Brasil. Esta capacitação permitirá o desenvolvimento de fontes de luz mais ambiciosas, no futuro, para a comunidade científica brasileira e mesmo da América Latina. ELFA - Electron Laser Facility for Acceleration, Descrição: My co-workers at Milan and I have proposed a new method for High Gradient Acceleration for electrons injected together with a radio frequency in a plasma loaded wiggler. Accelerating gradient up to 500 MeV/m are possible with saturation in the TeV/m region. Presently we are studying a new scheme for generating short wavelength in a FEL by injecting a low frequency signal in a plasma loaded wiggler which is also resonant with the electrons thanks to the plasma dispersion relation.
