Ohara Augusto

Ohara Augusto é Professora Titular do Departamento de Bioquímica do Instituto de Química da Universidade de São Paulo. Foi Bacharel e Licencianda em Química e Doutora em Bioquímica pela mesma Instituição. Fez pós-doutorado na University of California Berkeley and University of California, San Francisco. Seus interesses de pesquisa sempre foram focados na compreensão dos múltiplos papéis de radicais livres e oxidantes em fisiologia e fisiopatologia; suas especialidades incluem a bioquímica de oxidantes e radicais livres, cinética e mecanismos de enzimas redox, mecanismos oxidantes antioxidantes, processos infecciosos e inflamatórios e aplicações da espectroscopia de ressonância paramagnética eletrônica (EPR) em biomedicina. Recebeu o título de "Fellow of the SFRBM (Society for Redox Biology and Medicine)" (2000), a Medalha para Biologia da "International EPR Society" (2002), o título de "Adhonorum Professor" da Facultdat de Medicina, Universidad de la Republica, Uruguay (2006), o título de Comendador da Ordem do Mérito Científico do Governo Brasileiro, (2006), o Prêmio "Rheinboldt-Hauptmann" (2018), o 5o. Prêmio Mulheres Brasileiras na Química (Líder acadêmica) da American Chemical Society/Sociedade Brasileira de Química (2022), o 2022 "Lifetime Achievement Award" da Society for Redox Biology Medicine e o título de Prefessora Emérita do Instituto de Química da USP (2025). É membro da Academia Brasileira de Ciências (desde 2002), da Academia de Ciências do Estado de São Paulo (desde 2011) e da "World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) (desde 2011). Foi um dos Editores Associados do períodico Free Radicals Biology Medicine de 2013-2018 e é autora do livro didático "Radicais livres: bons, maus e naturais (Oficina de Textos, São Paulo, SP (2006).

CEPID de Processos Redox em Biomedicina-Redoxoma, Descrição: The Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (RIDC) on Redox Processes in Biomedicine-Redoxoma is a network involving 26 researchers from the State of São Paulo and several collaborators, including international researchers. The Center headquarters is located at Instituto de Química, Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and the core Institutions are: InCor ? FMUSP; Instituto de Biociências, USP; Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas, USP; FFCLRP-USP; Universidade Estadual Paulista; Instituto Butantan; e Universidade Federal de São Paulo.
