Important Parasitic and Infectious Diseases Shared by wildlife and Livestock in Ethiopia, Descrição: The current conservation of wildlife in Ethiopia is based on the system of National Park that excludes peoples and allocated huge areas of range land at different level for the conservation of different wildlife species. Because of this reason, pastoral livestock systems are increasingly competing with different wildlife species for grazing and water resources especially during the dry season and drought periods. This is expected to exert a marked influence on the emergence and proliferation of zoonotic diseases between wildlife and domestic herbivores as well as to humans living with the livestock. It has been estimated that 75% of emerging infectious diseases are zoonotic and most emerge from wildlife (Jones et al., 2008) such as bovine tuberculosis (BTB). BTB is one of a chronic infectious bacterial disease of animals and humans caused by Mycobacterium bovis. It remains one of the most devastating diseases of wild and domesticated animals. Ethiopia ranks seventh among the world s 22 high-burden tuberculosis countries and endemic in the livestock population system. It is therefore, a prerequisite to better understand eco-epidemiology of this zoonotic pathogens and its host in order to control disease transmission and prevent future outbreaks in wild and domestic herbivores, and people.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Graduação: (2) / Mestrado acadêmico: (1) . , Integrantes: Sintayehu Workeneh Dejene - Coordenador / Yirmed Demeke - Integrante / Sisay Menkir - Integrante., Financiador(es): Ethiopian institute of Agriculture - Auxílio financeiro.
