  COST Action TD1202, Descrição: Mapping and the citizen sensor Descriptions are provided by the Actions directly via e-COST. Accurate and timely maps are a fundamental resource but their production in a changing world is a major scientific and practical grand challenge. Remote sensing provides images for mapping at unparalleled rates but the ground reference data needed in map production and evaluation are difficult to acquire. The rise of citizen sensors (e.g. volunteers contributing information from remote devices) provides immense potential to radically change mapping. The quality of citizen sensor data, however, is highly variable and activity is uncoordinated. A major internationally recognised mapping challenge is how to deal with the vast amounts of image data and large bank of uncoordinated citizen sensors in a way to allow accurate mapping. This Action will evaluate the utility of citizen sensors in mapping, debate means to encourage standardisation, coordination of activity and identify how mapping can proceed with imperfect data. It will produce protocols for the collection and use of volunteered data, encouraging good practices while not constraining volunteers. The work is highly inter-disciplinary, at the interface of ISCH, ICT, TUD, ESSEM, FA and FPS domains, and benefits from expertise distributed across Europe.   Geodesign e Modelagem Paramétrica da Ocupação Territorial: novos recursos das geotecnologias para gestão da paisagem da Regional Pampulha, Belo Horizonte, Descrição: O processo de Geodesign apresenta uma framework (estrutura de trabalho com etapas e processos metodológicos) composta por etapas de aplicação de modelos que visam a caracterização, análise, proposição, simulação e ajustes na tomada de decisões da ocupação do território. O processo é bastante flexível à adaptação para as aplicações dos modelos às realidades territoriais e culturais, pois é necessário projetar a paisagem de modo contextualizado às necessidades locais. A modelagem paramétrica da paisagem urbana é composta pela aplicação de geotecnologias para visualização e tomada de decisões sobre os envelopes máximos que delimitam as edificações no espaço urbano, a partir de parâmetros urbanísticos. É proposta a framework do Geodesign para gerenciar o processo de promoção da visualização e participação cidadã na tomada de decisões sobre a paisagem resultante na aplicação dos parâmetros reguladores, através de modelos de representação, processos, avaliação, mudança, impacto e, futuramente, de decisão. São discutidas e apresentados exemplos de aplicação de duas ferramentas de suporte ao à visualização e simulação da representação tridimensional, que passam pelas etapas de Planning Support Systems (PSS), Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), Land Change Modeling (LCM) e Visualização (City Engine). É escolhido como estudo de caso de aplicação a região da Pampulha em Belo Horizonte, como exemplos do state-of-design que ilustra os conceitos discutidos como state-of-art, e traduzem realidades brasileiras que são protótipos das necessidades da gestão da paisagem urbana no país.   Modelagem Paramétrica da Ocupação Territorial: proposição de novos recursos das geotecnologias para representar e planejar o território urbano, Descrição: O projeto tem como objetivo defender uma nova era no processo de elaboração dos projetos de planejamento e gestão urbana, resultado da evolução nas tecnologias SIG (Sistemas de Informação Geográfica) de representação espacial. A era do pós-modernismo está sendo substituída por novo momento ditado pela parametrização. Favorece esta nova condição a significativa evolução das geotecnologias, a ampla de difusão de seus recursos e a facilitação de seus usos devido à disponibilização de dados e aplicativos na rede mundial de computadores. As legislações favoreceram o acesso às informações e definiram que os projetos urbanos, necessariamente de interesse coletivo, devem ser discutidos e aprovados com a participação da comunidade, o que trouxe como exigência a questão da visualização da informação. Conduz discussão sobre a relação entre expressão gráfica e visualização no planejamento urbano, com vistas a favorecer a compreensão dos cidadãos a cerca das proposições e transformações se seus territórios urbanos. Aborda valores contemporâneos: interoperabilidade entre sistemas, investimento em tecnologias de visualização, integração da comunidade em VGI (Volunteered Geographic Information) e, sobretudo, processos metodológicos baseados em Modelagem Paramétrica da Ocupação Territorial. Irá resultar na proposição, aplicação e avaliação de protótipos, baseados em tecnologia de geoprocessamento e rede mundial de computadores, para realizar a simulação da paisagem urbana projetada pelos parâmetros urbanísticos, com vistas a favorecer a compreensão e participação cidadã no processo decisional sobre a modelagem de seu território.
