Osman Can Hatipoglu

At the moment I am a PhD student at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Porto. I am in the last year of my education and I expect to defend my thesis in September 2013. Before I came to Portugal for PhD, I was a research assistant and a PhD student at Dokuz Eylül University in Turkey, from which I had obtained BSc and MSc degrees previously in 2004 and 2006, respectively. During my PhD in Turkey, I visited the Department of Mathematics of the University of Porto in 2007-2008 academic year as an Erasmus exchange student. After this visit I decided to enrol in the PhD program of the University of Porto and since 2009 I have been a PhD student in Porto. My PhD supervisor is Prof. Christian Lomp and I am supported by a PhD grant from Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. My research during my PhD has been on noncommutative ring theory. More precisely, I have been working on a finiteness condition on the injective hulls of simple modules over some Noetherian rings. Generally, my research interests are ring theory, module theory, Hopf algebras, and Lie algebras.
