  Linkage Analysis of Families with Congenital Anophthalmia, Descrição: The research project was based on genotyping of congenital eye disorders: Anophthalmia / Microphthalmia (A/M).__The objective was to screen out A/M genes through genotyping/homozygosity mapping, a classical method of Linkage Analysis, by using polymorphic microsatellite markers specific for each A/M gene. The genotyped results were analyzed by using bioinformatic tools and different softwares like Homozygosity mapper, easy linkage software and LOD score calculation. The rationale behind the study was also to explore the pathways affected by abnormal protein product as a result of mutations in causative gene(s). Eight genes were monitored for Autosomal Recessive Nonsyndromic Anophthalmia and Microphthalmia: CHX10 (C. elegans ceh-10 homeo domain containing homolog), SIX6 (Sine oculis homeobox, drosophila, homolog of, 6), OTX2 (orthodenticle homeobox 2), STRA6 (Stimulated by Retinoic Acid 6), SOX2 [SRY - (sex determining region Y)-box 2], PAX6 (paired box gene 6), RAX (retina and anterior neural fold homeobox) and FOXE3 (forkhead box E3). In addition Chromosome 1 was also scanned by homozygosity mapping___The results of the project excluded the linkage to already known genes and suggested the involvement of novel A/M genes/ loci. The study also proposed to investigate the involvement of novel genes by Whole Genome Scan through microsatellite markers or whole genome SNP typing using microarrays.   A Review Report on Comparative Study of Immunoglobulins in Milk, Descrição: It was a thesis based on a review of literature regarding comparison of immunoglobulin in milk of different mammalian species. It was concluded that the relative importance and concentration of Immunoglobulins in mammary secretions varies between species. In bovine colostrum and milk, Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is present predominantly, whereas, in other non ruminant mammalian milks, including human, predominat Immunoglobulin is IgA. The route and origin of the immunoglobulins is reflected by the concentration and class of immunoglobulins in the colostrum and milk of specie.
