Vladimir Pestov

Vladimir Pestov foi nascido e criado na Ásia Setentrional (na época uma parte da União Soviética, por enquanto uma parte da Federação da Rússia), recebeu o doutorado na Universidade de Moscou em 1983 (Geometria e Topologia, orientador: A.V. Arhangel'skii), e desenvolveu a carreira universitária principalmente na Nova Zelândia e Canadá. Em 2017 ele pediu aposentadoria antecipada na Universidade de Ottawa, onde é agora Professor Emérito, e mudou para Brasil, atuando como pesquisador visitante ou professor voluntário (UFSC, UFBA, UFPB). Os interesses principais e os melhores resultados do Vladimir pertencem à teoria dinâmica de "grupos de dimensão infinita", em particular a letra "P" da teoria conhecida como "correspondência K-P-T" ("K-P-T correspondence") vem do seu sobrenome. Porém, ele tem vários outros interesses, inclusive os fundamentos do aprendizado de máquina.

    Foundations of Supergeometry, Descrição: Supergeometry provides a mathematical background for major areas of modern theoretical particle physics. A number of important foundational problems of super- geometry, often cutting across several different fields of mathematics, still remain open. We plan to address them in a consistent new way and expect our work to eventually have an impact on theoretical and mathematical physics.
