  A cohort study to evaluate early onset of cardiovascular and metabolic dysfunction in colombian adolescents with Metabolic Syndrome (SIMBA II), Descrição: The SIMBA study (Colciencias 65660418215) found that the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) in school-age children in Bucaramanga rises to 9.6% depending on the diagnostic criteria used. However, the clinical significance of this diagnosis is unknown since no studiesthat demonstrate that the criteria used to define metabolic syndrome in children have some usefulness in identifying an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease or metabolic disorders in the future.
