  'Is A Non-Bororo Man A Mr. Wrong?': Exploring Gender and Kinship Through the Generation of Filmic Knowledge', Descrição: 'Is a non-Bororo man a Mr. Wrong?' is a feature length film exploring new configurations of kinship among the Bororo people in Central Brazil. In Bororo villages today there are a number of 'wrong marriages', marital alliances that classic anthropology would have classified as 'incest', which the Bororo justify through an idiom of 'love' and 'modernity'. Building on a period of twelve months' fieldwork, I explored this issue through a film experiment: the making of the ethnographic 'romantic comedy' 'In Search of a Bororo Mr. Right'. In order to produce 'Is a non-Bororo man a Mr.Wrong?' I shall return to the Bororo village, screen 'Mr.Right' and then refashion some of its sequences whilst incorporating feedback from Bororo viewers. The film will integrate observational footage, interviews and a reflexive approach to the exploration of a 'fictional' 'romantic comedy' through memory and feedback.   Filmmaking and Ethnographic Research, Descrição: This is an ethnographic study carried out with the Bororo people in Central Brazil. It focuses on how Bororo people?s moral experiences are transformed through modernisation, evangelisation and globalisation. It will demonstrate that in spite of the cultural and communicational transformations entailed by the villages? global interconnections, the significance of two cultural prohibitions?moiety endogamy and the aije spirits (men?s secret)?continue to inform the moral actions of contemporary Bororo. Through the use of filmmaking and film elicitation methods, the project investigates each of these prohibitions and contends that they are constitutive of the Boe gendered person. The study argues that in the midst of radical cultural and communicational transformation, it is through the construction of the gendered person that continuity is ensured. The thesis describes the radical transformations in two Bororo villages with particular attention to the youths? participation on social media networking through the Internet. It also stresses the importance of the notion of ?romantic love? in contemporary village life whilst also demonstrating how the prohibition on moiety endogamous marriages continues to inform the experience of Bororo multividuals. In order to investigate this issue, I explored the themes of ?romantic love? and moiety endogamy through the making of the visual ethnography In Search of a Bororo Mr. Right. Whilst I investigate moiety endogamy through the making of a film, the significance of the aije spirits emerged in a process of feedback screenings, which unexpectedly turned into film elicitation sessions for the film medium, brought to the surface the strength of women?s fear of these beings. Drawing on the analysis of the two prohibitions taken together, I argue that the Boe gendered person is constructed through the mediation of village relations with ?inside? and ?outside? others. In this sense, women are responsible for the manipulation of marriage alliances and the inspection of new babies (who are dangerous ?others?) about whom they have the power over life or death. By the same token, men are primarily responsible for mediating relationships with ?outside? others (spirits, animals, non-indigenous peoples). They are in charge of unmaking dead bodies and conducting new souls to the village of the dead. Whilst the Boe gendered person is what ensures continuity in the midst of radical change, the village relations with the ?inside? and the ?outside? are in the process of transformation for the presence of the media, and the Internet in the villages is multiplying otherness and the spaces it inhabits.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Flavia Sant'Ana Kremer - Coordenador.

  Performance, Reflexivity and Research Ethics, Descrição: This essay dialogues with feminist debates around ethics, epistemology and methodology. It analyzes the ?failure? of my research encounter with the Bororo people in Central Brazil. The essay uses the Brechtian theatrical concept of ?interruption? to scrutinize the empathic assumptions which inform feminist methodologies. It also demonstrates how ethical research opens a fruitful space for dialogue between researcher and researched. The relationship between researcher and researched is discussed in relation to the implicit hierarchies inherent in the global/local dichotomy.   Antropologia e Teatro, Descrição: Questo progetto ha lo scopo di indagare il potenziale critico di uno spettacolo teatrale attraverso gli strumenti antropologici e questionare alcuni concetti dell?antropologia della performance attraverso il lavoro sul campo all?interno di un processo di prove. Il progetto è diviso in due parti: nella prima parte discuto criticamente alcuni concetti del lavoro di Victor Turner e presento la fondamentale critica di Renato Rosaldo che porterà l?analisi alla messa in discussione di questi concetti. La seconda parte è un?etnografia di un processo di creazione teatrale di una compagnia di teatro a Roma (Italia).   M'Agua: Etnografia de um Processo de Criação Teatral Contemporâneo, Descrição: O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar antropologicamente um processo de criação teatral contemporâneo tendo como parâmetro os estudos de performance de Victor Turner e em especial o modelo de análise do processo teatral de Schechner. O grupo estudado, o chamado ?Círculo de Encenação e Pesquisa? da escola ?Pé no Palco: cursos livres de teatro? em Curitiba, se propôs a escrever coletivamente um texto teatral a partir da metáfora M?Água,que reúne meio ambiente e relações pessoais por meio da associação sonora entre água e mágoa.
