Alan Harold Bridges

Arquiteto pela Kingston Upon Hull School Of Architecture Gb (1972), Mestre e Doutor (PhD) em Arquitetura pela University of Strathclyde, Reino Unido (1973, 1982). Criador e Coordenador do mais antigo curso europeu de pós-graduação strito sensu em Projeto de Arquitetura Assistido por Computador (1983-2000). Foi Chefe do Departamento de Arquitetura da University of Strathclyde e Diretor do grupo de pesquisa ABACUS, o mais antigo na Europa na área de projeto assistido por computador. Foi professor na Technical University of Delft, Holanda (1989-96). Professor visitante em diversas universidades, incluindo: Universidade de Brasília, Universidade de Roma ( La Sapienza ) e University of Sydney, Austrália. Atualmente é professor titular - University of Strathclyde, lecionando no curso "Digital Criativity", do qual foi também criador. Ex-consultor do escritório de arquitetura Foster & Partners. Ex-presidente da "International Federation of Associations of Computer Users in Engineering, Architecture and Related Fields". Desenvolve projetos de pesquisa nos seguintes tópicos: teoria da arquitetura, sistemas generativos, gramática da forma, ambientes virtuais, fabricação digital e customização em massa. Orientou 27 teses de doutorado e mais de 150 dissertações de mestrado. Possui mais de 115 publicações científicas, na forma de capítulos de livros, artigos completos em periódicos e em anais de congressos internacionais.
