  COVID-19 IN BRAZIL: an intentional disaster, Descrição: This research proposal is based on a recent study of the impact of COVID-19 in Brazil and itsrelation to democratic and governance processes led by Professor Hilhorst, who very muchliked our work and encouraged us to deepen the analysis, and to turn the report into a journalarticle. The team of ISS academics and PhD researchers seeks to more deeply explore thevaried dynamics of the responses (thus precarity/resilience) of urban poor, domestic workersand the indigenous in the Amazon to COVID-19. This information will be used to question thesegroups structures, processes and strategies at a conceptual and practical level. Can theiractions be seen as repertoires of protest, ones with form, a relation to authority and based onan alternative vision - or simply once off coalitions? Moreover, are they building on pasttraditions or previous experiences of organization and moving towards a more solid movementfor change one where social justice is more at the core of their (evolving) identity? Whatdoes our comparative case view tell us about the factors that seem to determine this?   Governance of Labour Logistics for Sustainability, Descrição: The objective of the Governance of Labour and Logistics for Sustainability (GOLLS) project is to promote labour rights and human security along and within global value chains linking Brazil and Holland. Sustainability (social and environmental) is central to this focus.
