Luis Alberto da Silva Cruz

Luis Alberto da Silva Cruz, Professor Auxiliar do Departamento de Engenharia Electrotécnica e de Computadores da Universidade de Coimbra, PhD em Engenharia Electrotécnica, Computadores e Sistemas pelo Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2000), MSc em Matemática pelo Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1997), Mestre em Sistemas de Informação pela Universidade de Coimbra (1994) e licenciado em Engenharia Electrotécnica pela Universidade de Coimbra (1989). É co-autor de duas patentes internacionais na área da codificação de vídeo e autor ou co-autor de cerca de 40 artigos em conferências e revistas internacionais. Tem sido revisor de conferências e revistas internacionais na área do processamento de vídeo e imagem e reconhecimento de padrões. Colabora com duas empresas nacionais que operam na área do processamento de imagens médicas. Actualmente é Professor Auxiliar no Departamento de Engenharia Electrotécnica da Universidade de Coimbra onde lecciona unidades curriculares do 2o ciclo nas áreas de processamento de audio e vídeo, comunicações móveis e programação de computadores e uma unidade curricular de 3o ciclo sobre codificação de imagem e vídeo. É investigador do Instituto de Telecomunicações a que está associado desde a sua fundação, desenvolvendo actividades de investigação em codificação de vídeo 3D, avaliação de qualidade de vídeo 3D, optimização de codificadores de vídeo de última geração, processamento de imagens oftalmológicas e processamento de sinais de rádio.
