Albane Le Maire

CNRS Researcher in the Centre de Biochimie Structurale in Montpellier, France. Diploma (equivalent Master Degree) of the Physics and Chemistry Higher Educational Institution (ESPCI, Paris, 2003) and Master Degree in Biological Crystallography and NMR at the Universities Paris V, Paris XI, Grenoble and Strasbourg (France, 2003). Higher Biomedical Training at the University Paris XI (France, 2006). PhD in Structural Biology at the Universiy Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, (France, 2008). Two-years post-doctoral fellow (2008-2010) for the structural and dynamic studies of nuclear receptors regulation at the Centre de Biochimie Structurale. I have various scientific abilities: Protein crystallization and X-ray crystallography and other structural methods (SAXS and heteronuclear NMR), cloning, mutagenesis, protein expression in bacteria and mammal cells, purification and biochemical analysis of proteins, proteomic analysis (SEC-MALLS, GST pull-down, molecular filtration, immunoprecipitation and mass spectrometry, ITC) and biophysical methods (fluorescent anisotropy, CD-Spetroscopy, dynamic light scattering, Thermofluor). Nuclear receptors are master regulators of gene expression in humans and important drug targets. Their biological functions depend on their ability to bind other molecules such as ligands, DNA and a myriad of coregulatory proteins including epigenetic enzymes. My major interest is to reach a detailed understanding of these recognition processes. By combining structural studies with functional assays, we can build up a comprehensive picture of the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional regulation by nuclear receptors and propose novel regulatory compounds with potential therapeutic applications. The main focus of my current work is in the structural basis of nuclear receptor functions and of epigenetic enzymes involved in nuclear receptor mediated transcription.
