María José Rivas

Possui graduação em Licenciatura en Bioquímica - Facultad de Ciencias (2014). I am currently a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in biological sciences. My thesis work is the epidemiological and evolutionary study of influenza B viruses that have circulated in Uruguay during the last year and its comparison with other strains of the region and vaccine strains. In Uruguay, sentinel surveillance of the virus is carried out in several hospitals in the country. The samples are obtained from hospitalized and ambulatory patients. Molecular techniques for the amplification of the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase surface genes of the virus were carried out for the study.
