Profissional com 10+ anos de atuação na área de desenvolvimento de projetos e negócios em energia e consultoria de estratégia e operações. Especialista na avaliação técnico e econômica de projetos de conversão de energia. Atualmente, é consultor associado da McKinsey & Co , atuando em projetos de transformação de operações e servindo como expert em energia para clientes em diferentes indústrias (alimentos, fertilizante, alumínio, agroindústria, bens de consumo, químicas e farmacêuticas). Anteriormente, foi gerente de desenvolvimento da ERB Energias Renováveis do Brasil SA, sendo responsável pelas áreas comercial, de tecnologia e energia. Participou ativamente das atividades de captação de recursos (operação de private placement e project finance totalizando R$ 800 M), além de liderar negociação contratual com clientes. A ERB tem 2 plantas de cogeração de biomassa (cavaco e bagaço de cana) fornecendo vapor e energia para processos industriais. Foi estagiário da Nestlé e Fibria (ex-Aracruz Celulose) na área de engenharia. Engenheiro mecânico pela Escola Politécnica/USP e doutor em engenharia mecânica (especialidade Termodinâmica aplicada) pela mesma instituição, tendo mais de 30 publicações em revistas indexadas e congressos (temas: análise termodinâmica/exergética/ambiental de processos de geração de energia a partir de biomassa e gás natural, aeronaves, produção de biocombustíveis e corpo humano).

Projeto Temático FAPESP - Análise Técnica, Econômica e Ambiental do Uso da Cana-de-Açúcar para Geração Sustentável de Energia Elétrica, Descrição: Título do sub-projeto: "Produção de eletricidade em larga escala a partir de sub-produtos da cana de açúcar no Estado de São Paulo: alternativas, condicionantes, barreiras e oportunidades" Este sub-projeto visa a obtenção de parâmetros técnico- econômicos que auxiliem na elaboração de políticas específicas, de medidas regulatórias e, também, na decisão sobre investimentos para utilização eficiente do potencial de geração de energia elétrica a partir de sub-produtos da cana de açúcar (bagaço e de pontas e folhas). O estudo será realizado apenas para o conjunto de usinas instaladas no Estado de São Paulo, mas as principais conclusões serão válidas para o conjunto de usinas do país. Serão consideradas tecnologias de cogeração e de geração termelétrica, incluindo em ambos os casos tecnologias comerciais e não comerciais. Será também considerado o uso de combustíveis complementares, principalmente o gás natural. No projeto serão identificados fatores condicionantes, considerando aspectos tais como o estado da arte das diferentes tecnologias, tendências de desenvolvimento tecnológico no curto e médio prazos, a capacitação da indústria nacional, barreiras políticas, sociais e comportamentais, restrições econômicas e financeiras, e condicionantes regulatórios.
