Edgard Luiz Marx

I am a Principal Data Scientist at eccenca and a project manager at Leipzig University of Applied Science.I have over ten years of experience in software engineering, project management, and designing innovative solutions. I have worked on various levels of project-related activities, such as leading development and research while transferring these technologies to industry partners. As Principal Data Scientist, I help big enterprises such as Daimler, Siemens, Bosch, and Infineon with their mission of building large-scale digital twins, creating insights, developing their long-term data strategies, and facilitating knowledge access through Large Language Models. At HTWK, I manage and lead an international research project with a budget of over three hundred thousand euros, developing and researching methods to deal with all aspects of the Data Life Cycle, building, publishing, and managing biochemical knowledge graphs. Over the last few years, I have been actively contributing to the information retrieval field with novel techniques for Natural Language Processing over large knowledge graphs, focusing on Question Answering and Semantic Search systems, having (co-)authored over 40 peer-reviewed works published in international journals, conferences, and workshops. I have also worked as a reviewer and chair in conferences and working groups such as AAAI Conference, The Web Conference, Extended Semantic Web Conference, International Conference on Semantic Computing (ICSC), and QALD (Open Challenge on Question Answering over Linked Data). I also have experience in international research projects such as DFG DINOBBIO and ANPD, BMWK COYPU, ECSEL BRAINE, CLEVER, and SMARTY, with an overall budget of over fifty million Euros.

openQA, Descrição: O uso de tecnologias da Web Semântica levou a um número crescente de dados estruturados publicados na web. Apesar dos avanços em sistemas de Pergunta e Resposta, recuperar a informação desejada a partir de fontes estruturadas ainda é um grande desafio. Usuários e pesquisadores ainda enfrentam dificuldades para integrar e comparar seus resultados e o desempenho destes sistemas. openQA é uma arquitetura open source para sistemas de Pergunta e Respota que unifica abordagens de vários especialistas do domínio. RDFSlice, Descrição: In the last years an increasing number of structured data was published on the Web as Linked Open Data (LOD).Despite recent advances, consuming and using Linked Open Data within an organization is still a substantial challenge.
