Possui graduação em Biologia pela Universidad de Puerto Rico , Mayaguez, PR, EUA (2005). Mestrado em Oceanografia Biológica pela University of South Florida (USF) , Florida, EUA e doutorado em Oceanografia Biológica pela USF (2013). Participou do Programa MIMSUP ( National Science Foundation-Multicultural Initiative in the Marine Sciences ), da Universidade Western Washington, Washington, EUA. Fiz internado de verão no Alaska Fisheries Science Center, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration , Departamento de Pesca, Newport, Oregon, EUA e no Virginia Institute for Marine Sciences (VIMS), Faculdade de Ciências do Mar da Universidade William & Mary, Virginia, EUA. Atualmente faz pós-doutorado no Laboratório de Estudos dos Oceanos e Clima, Instituto de Oceanografia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG) Rio Grande, RS, Brasil. Tem experiência na área de oceanografia biológica, sensoriamento remoto por satélite, cor do oceano, ecologia do fitoplâncton, proliferação de algas nocivas, sistemas de observação, arrecifes de coral, e mudanças climáticas. Altamente treinada trabalhando com grande conjunto de dados, programação de computadores em Matlab e IDL, processamento de imagem de satélite, e sistemas de informação geográfica.
