Tapasi Ghosh
At present, I am working for the NuMI Off-axis νe Appearance(NOvA) and Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber In A Testbeam(LArIAT) Experiments, at FermiLab, USA. For the LArIAT Experiment, I have spent several years working independently for different neutrino physics experiments and have years of experience of doing simulation, working with different codes/packages and also doing data analysis.
I did Bachelors in Science with major in Physics from University of Calcutta, India in 2002, then completed Master in Science from University of Calcutta (2004).
I have persued PhD from Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre(VECC), India in 2011. My PhD work was based on simulation of developing data analysis and track reconstruction techniques for proposed India- based Neutrino Observatory(INO) experiment.
During this period I have contributed mainly in the following topics for the software development of the INO project.
1. Detector geometry and it´s response have been simulated by using the detector simulation tool-kit GEANT4. I have simulated the prototype detector geometry and also analysed it´s response for cosmic
muons by using GEANT4. This experience provide me enough confidence to work for different detector geometries with GEANT4 as I was solely involved in this work from the very beginning. 2. I worked for the development of the track reconstruction technique by Kalman Filter method for the ICAL detector. Track reconstruction is the method by which track parameters(e.g., charge, momentum, direction) of the charged particle(muon generated from muon-neutrino charged-current interaction ) inside the detector can be extracted.
3. I also have the experience to work with Artificial Neural Network. An algorithm based on the Artificial Neural Network (ANN)
is developed to separate out the muons from the hadron shower inside the calorimeter. Because during charge-current interaction of
neutrinos with iron nuclei of the iron calorimeter, muons and hadrons are generated simultaneously.
4. I developed a Monte Carlo Simulation method to study the effect of surface roughness of electrodes on the performance of Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC). RPCs are active detectors for INO, which will be placed inside the iron calorimeter between two iron layers.
I was a post-doctoral fellow at Institute de Fisica Corpuscular(IFIC), Spain since May, 2011 and worked for the Magnetized Iron Neutrino Detector(MIND) of Neutrino Factory. I was DCR fellow at Federal University of Goias, Brazil from 2014-2017.
I have good expertisation and skills on detector simulation and data analysis techniques for High Energy Physics Experiments
