  User-oriented Extension and Automation of Agent-based Software for Pathogen-specific Modelling of Epidemics, Descrição: In our globalized and ever-more connected world, infectious diseases spread wider and faster than ever before. Especially in wake of the 2020 Sars-Cov-2 pandemic, it becomes clear that such diseases can rise from very few cases to a global thread within days. While there are numerous epidemiological prediction models, most of them follow a macroscopic approach to approximate overall infections or case fatalities. However, a more profound understanding of how the spread is impacted by biological (age, sex, immunization, ?) , social (relationships, working hours, individual response to infection, ?) and public/political factors (public fear, infection prevention policies, ?) can help to craft more sophisticated epidemics response mechanisms. To this end microsimulations are used to get a deeper understanding of drivers of the epidemic, to predict possible future states and to enhance decision making. As of March 1st, a new cross-sectional project, EPIPREDICT, funded by the Nationale Forschungsplattform für Zoonosen was initiated. This project aims at extending the modeling platform to enable the analysis of various zoonotic disease infection scenarios. These diseases originate from non-human animals and are in many cases extremely dangerous to humans as our immune system is generally not sufficiently prepared to respond to disease exposue. Bird-Flu, Swine-Flu, HIV, Ebola, Malaria, Hanta-Virus and the recent Sars-Cov-2 belong to this family of diseases.   Blut-Informationssystem für Krisenintervention und -management - Teilvorhaben: Simulation und Enterprise Architecture Management, Descrição: Blut ist in der medizinischen Notfallbehandlung unverzichtbar. Es kann ausschlielich durch Spender gewonnen werden. In Südafrika gibt es bei der Blutgewinnung besondere Schwierigkeiten, da in der Bevölkerung die Infektionsraten mit Malaria, parasitären Erkrankungen und vor allem HIV hoch sind. Im Rahmen des Projektes wird ein Informationssystem entwickelt, das medizinische, technische und logistische Daten organisationsübergreifend und überregional erfasst.   Demonstration of intelligent decision support for pandemic crisis prediction and management within and across European borders, Descrição: Smart support platform for pandemic prediction and management The goal of the EU-funded STAMINA project is to develop an intelligent decision support platform for pandemic prediction and management. The project will enable national agencies and first responders to anticipate pandemic threats and plan daily efforts to enhance health security. The objectives of the project include the creation of real-time web and social media analytics for the detection of possible disease outbreaks, predictive modelling of pandemic outbreaks and early warning systems. The crisis management part will define the roles of key actors during crisis management and include protection and diagnostic devices for first-line screening.   MatuFlex III: Development of a Maturity Measurement Framework of Supply Chain Flexibility, Descrição: Today?s supply chains are acting in an ever more complex, dynamic and uncertain business environment. Increased customer expectations regarding product variety, shortened product life-cycles and volatile demand motivate the need for supply chain flexibility (SCF) in the face of stiff competition and environmental changes. Flexibility processes implementation in supply chains varies according to companies and supply chain, due to several factors. The level of awareness of the need for flexibility, proactive or reactive planning and use of flexibility; and the focus on the supply chain as a whole or on single companies are examples. The concept of process maturity assumes that the implementation of procedures is carried out in multiple evolutionary and successive stages, which are explicitly defined, managed and measured. Maturity models give companies indicators as well as guidance to analyze and subsequently improve their processes. Despite several SC maturity models in the literature, there was not a model focusing on the maturity of SC flexibility processes, as the one developed in this project. The levels of the developed maturity model for supply chain flexibility are (1) none, (2) inter-firm, (3) SC reactive, (4) SC proactive, and (5) SC paradigmatic. Each level has five dimensions: (1) Collaboration, (2) Information Technology, (3) Information flow, (4) Internal flexibility types and (5) Performance measurement. This project was set out to develop the afore described maturity model for supply chain flexibility and to apply it in practice. Project partners of the research group Information Systems and Supply Chain Management were the two universities Universidade Federal de Sao Carlos and the Pontoficia Universidade do Rio de Janeiro from Brasil.   DRiving InnoVation in crisis management for European Resilience, Descrição: DRIVER starts from the experience that neither successful R&D nor strong end-user demand always lead to innovation in the Crisis Management (CM) domain. This is a problem since as societies become more complex, increasing scope and unpredictability of potential crises and faster dynamics of major incidents put increasingly stringent demands on CM. European CM capabilities already constitute a mature System of Systems; hence wholesale redesign would often be too costly and might critically destabilise existing CM capabilities. Therefore DRIVER focuses on augmenting rather than replacing existing capabilities and will aim at producing a comprehensive, well-balanced and cost-effective Portfolio of CM tools exploiting high potential RTD work from the last decade, not least in FP7 and FP6 projects. This portfolio will address not only needs of professional responders but also of society at large. DRIVER will carry out experimentation campaigns in three strands: tools and methods for responders, resilience of civil society and learning by both. The intra-strand experimentation leads into two Joint Experiment campaigns and a Final Demo focusing on challenges requiring highly complex interaction between CM tools. To evaluate and benchmark these CM tools, a strong evidence base for tool selection is crucial; to this end DRIVER will build a distributed European CM Test-bed, itself a major innovation. To maximise impact beyond the scope of the project and of the DRIVER consortium it is necessary to develop the sustainability of the European Test-bed, the exploitation of the DRIVER Portfolio of Tools and to make emerge a European CM community, which shares a common CM understanding and is increasingly willing to share capabilities and collaborate in CM innovation. GDACSmobile is a client-server application for crisis situation assessment that enables the disaster-affected public and professional aid workers to gather, analyze and disseminate information via mobile devices and a web client. The new prototype features several extensions and improvements, such as more powerful mechanisms for content moderation and systems integration.   A Networked and IT-enabled Firm's Perspective on Crisis Management (NITIMESR), Descrição: By the middle of the year, experts announced 2011 to be the most expensive year in counts of global disaster damages ever. The EU has articulated its ambition to become an effective player in crisis management as part of the European Security Strategy (Stockholm Programme 2010-2014, Lisbon Treaty). The Hyogo Framework stipulates that a substantial reduction of disaster losses is only possible through advanced governance and management. NITIMesr has been designed as a practice-inspired research initiative that addresses research and conceptualization of new modes and competencies for coordination and collaboration in heterogeneous actor networks including involvement of individuals, advanced practices of vertically integrating governance of crisis management, strategic and operative management, with a special focus on involvement and engagement of self-motivated individuals - actors, agents, volunteer, citizens or, as we call them - entrepreneurs. NITIMesr brings together an interdisciplinary group of researchers and industry partners including the two leading European security clusters around the international court of justice in Den Haag and the Bavarian Security Cluster around the International Campus Aerospace and Security, BICAS, at the German EADS headquarters in Munich. The aim is to explore new frontiers of safety and security with the institutional, governance, organizational and managerial challenges of crisis networks, to develop and test innovative approaches for coordination in real world settings and to build Europe-wide connected clusters for crisis management and implement integrated solutions.   Application and Extension of Meta-Heuristics for Supply Chain Planning, Descrição: The management of complex inter-organizational networks is a strategic key capability for today?s companies. In this context, the increasingly important field of Supply Chain Planning (SCP) has established in recent decades. It deals with strategic, tactical and operational planning tasks for optimizing process execution of one or several companies within a supply chain. In this area, several combinatorial optimization problems exist, that cannot always be solved by exact mathematical optimization techniques, because they entail an exponential runtime behavior and thus cannot be computed within a limited time frame. In order to tackle these problems, several meta- heuristics have been proposed in recent years that do not necessarily result in a global optimum, but deliver good solutions in an acceptable time. However, especially in the light of the increasing complexity of modern supply chains that have to be planned in ever shorter cycles, there is the constant demand for new techniques that achieve an improved runtime behavior, while also achieving a high quality of the planning results. This project set out to evaluate the applicability and performance of two meta- heuristics for complex optimization problems in SCP that were proposed by the Brazilian project partners: the Fish School Search (FSS), an optimization technique inspired by the collective behavior of fish schools, and Evolutionary Self- Organized Map (EvSOM).   Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System Goes Mobile (in cooperation with the Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen of the Joint Research Centre, CA No. 32874), Descrição: The Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) provides near real-time alerts about natural disasters around the world and tools to facilitate response coordination, including media monitoring, map catalogues and Virtual On-Site Operations Coordination Centre. GDACS is a Joint Initiative of the United Nations and the European Commission (Institute Institute for the Protection and the Security of the Citizen, Global Security and Crisis Management Unit, Critech Action). Critech started exploring current technology and internet trends in order to answer the question if post-disaster situation awareness can be improved by community involvement in 2011. An exploratory research project revolves around the development of an iPhone App to provide users with real-time information about disasters and give them the possibility to send information in the form of a geo-located image and/or text back. Targeted users include professional emergency responders of the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS), as well as general users affected by disasters. The goal of the project was to extract and feedback useful information from the reports shared by the community for improving situation awareness and providing ground truth for rapid satellite-based mapping.   Mobile Applikation für Vertragshändler und Vertriebsmanager der Automobilindustrie als Schnittstelle zum Qualitätsmanagement- und Reporting-System (in Zusammenarbeit mit arvato distribution GmbH), Descrição: Das Projektseminar MoVe beschäftigte sich mit der Entwicklung einer mobilen Applikation zur Unterstützung des Vertriebs in Automotive Supply Chains. Hintergrund bildeten Herausforderungen eines Automobilherstellers im Bereich der Vertriebssteuerung, der Corporate Identity und Brand Conformity. Die entwickelte Applikation unterstützt den Vertrieb bei der Datenerfassung, -auswertung sowie der Informationsbereitstellung, bspw. der Koordination von Probefahrten, des Fahrzeugbestandes oder der Werkstattdurchläufe von Stammkunden. Die Informationstechnologie übersetzt hierzu die Vertriebskonzepte in brauchbare Anwendungen. Ziel des Projektseminars war die Entwicklung eines Management-Informationssystems, das theoretisch fundiert ist und sich am aktuellen Stand der Forschung ausrichtet. Neben der Auswertung von Daten, die aus angebundenen Systemen abgerufen werden können, wird auch die Eingabe relevanter Informationen, bspw. Kundenwünsche, ermöglicht. Die zu relevanten Informationen aggregierten Daten werden ansprechend visualisiert, bspw. als eingängige Grafiken zur Bedarfsvorschau. Die technische Lösung wude möglichst plattformübergreifend konzipiert, da die Kunden des Automobilherstellers Geräte von verschiedenen Smartphone-Anbietern nutzen. Auerdem wurden die Schnittstelle der Smartphone-Applikation mit einem CRM-System implementiert und ein Sicherheitskonzept erarbeitet. Ein bekannter Automobilhersteller im Premium-Segment hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Beziehung zu seinen Kunden zu intensivieren und sie noch stärker für sich zu begeistern. Das Marketing soll den Kunden motivieren, mit ihm in Dialog treten und ihm Mehrwerte aufzeigen. Zu diesem Zweck können mehrere Kommunikationskanäle zum Einsatz kommen, wie zum Beispiel Printmedien oder auch die immer beliebter werdenden Smartphones. Die Informationstechnologie hingegen soll die Konzepte des Marketings in brauchbare Anwendungen übersetzen. Hierzu sind beispielsweise die Schnittstelle einer Smartphone-Applikation mit einem CRM-System zu implementieren und ein Sicherheitskonzept zu erarbeiten. Aufgabe des Projektseminars war es, ein Marketing- und Technologiekonzept zu entwickeln, das theoretisch fundiert ist und sich am aktuellen Stand der Forschung ausrichtet. Die Marketing-Seite betreffend sollten die Seminarteilnehmer untersuchen, welche klassischen und durch technischen Fortschritt entstandenen, neuen Möglichkeiten zur Kundenbindung existieren. Aus diesen sollten sie den Teil auswählen, der sich für die Integration in eine Smartphone-Applikation eignet. Die technische Seite betreffend sollte die angepeilte technische Lösung möglichst plattformübergreifend konzipiert sein, da die Kunden des Automobilherstellers Geräte von verschiedenen groen Smartphone-Herstellern nutzen.
