Onur Baysal
I am Onur Baysal and citizen of the Republic of Turkey. I was born on July 5th, 1979 in Izmir, Turkey.
As an academic background, I completed undergraduate education in Astronomy and Space Sciences at Ege University, Izmir. Then I attended M.Sc. programme in Mathematics at Izmir Institute of Technology. After completing my master degree, I started Ph.D. program in the same department. During this period, I had worked there as a research assistant for 8 years (2004-2012). My Ph.D. thesis entitled Stabilized Finite Element Methods for Time-Dependent Convection-Diffusion Equation was fulfilled and defended in 2012. The results of this Ph.D. thesis were published as three papers in distinguished journals.
In my last year of Ph.D. study, I started working on Inverse source identification problem related to the Euler Bernoulli beam equation, a different subject from what I worked on my dissertation. As a result of collaboration with Professor Alemdar Hasanoglu (dean of the Mathematics department in Izmir University), we managed to publish a conference proceeding and two papers about the fields ``Inverse Problems, Optimization and Numerical Analysis". I had worked in Izmir University with Professor Hasanov for 1 year as Instructor Dr. (2012-2013) and for 2 years as an Assistant Professor (2014-2016).
After Ph.D. studies, I took a postdoctoral research position starting from September 2013 to February 2014 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (USA) under the supervision of Professor Michael V. Klibanov. During my post-doctoral studies, I obtained some useful results on the coefficient inverse problems arising in medical optical imaging.
Currently, I am working at Bahcesehir College Science and Technology High School in Izmir as a lecturer in Mathematics department. I want to continue my academic career within the scope of this postdoctoral program on realistic engineering inverse problems related to Euler Bernoulli Beam models specified with me and Professor Alexandre Kawano.
