As the Senior Scientific Operations Manager at the ICR, Breast Cancer Research Division (BCR), I lead, coordinated and managed the development of all research operational elements of the division, ensuring implementation, alignment with major funding bids and effective deployment of resources in excess of GBP 7.3m. I provided high-level proactive and responsive support to the Head of Division/Center Director and Deputy Director, and supported daily operations of 10 laboratories and 120 researchers. Line-managed a multinational team of 6 individuals (Center & Divisional Manager, Divisional Lab Manager, Lead Bioinformatician, Lead Senior Molecular Pathology Scientific Officer and Histopathology Core Facility Manager), while ensuring compliance with institutional and governmental guidelines, as well as Environment and Health Safety (EHS) specifications throughout different projects. I was responsible for coordinating grant applications, drafting documents and reports, and administering grants throughout its duration. Established, developed and built effective and beneficial working relationships and communications with research divisional heads, different departments at the ICR, key external national and international contacts and collaborators, and supported and sustained on-going relationships with funders and vendors. I was responsible and directly involved in the acquisition of major equipment for the division, liaising with vendors for price negotiation and organizing demos, info sessions and workshops.

As the laboratory manager for Dr. Tyler Jacks, investigator and director in the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT, I supported a laboratory comprised of ~40 people, including 1 research scientist, 10 research technicians, 10 graduate students, 7 undergraduate students, 3 rotation students and 8 postdoctoral fellows. I was responsible for directly assisting Dr. Jacks, as well as for being the liaison between the lab, the PI and different institutional departments. I was also responsible for identifying funding opportunities, for grant and budget preparation, progress reports, grant-management and compliance. My functions also included, but were not limited to, being the EHS representative, renewing of the BRR and animal protocol and ensuring CAB/ESCRO and IACUC compliance, proceeding to material technology transfers, personnel recruitment and hiring, coordinating postdoctoral candidates selection and interview, website maintenance (https://jacks- lab.mit.edu), ordering, equipment maintenance and service contracts, etc.

At The Rockefeller University, in New York, I was the laboratory manager and scientific/executive administrator for the Brivanlou laboratory. To name a few, my functions included participation in grant writing and preparation, budgeting and elaboration of progress reports, as well as grant/budget management, human resources (personnel recruitment and appointments, visa documentation, job ads, etc.), interfacing with the different departments at the University, proper running of daily operations in the lab (databases, backups, equipment maintenance, service and contracts, ordering), planning of scientific presentations, organizing meetings and visits of invited speakers and assuring full management of the PI?s schedule (meetings, traveling, conferences, etc?).
