Iman Ghodratitoostani
I graduated in Biomedical in Engineering (2004), from IAU of Tehran. later I founded a knowledge based company (FGSco) in field of tinnitus and diagnostic. FGSco, under my management developed several software in image processing and acoustic engineering, during 2011 I moved to Brazil and UFABC as a master student in Neuroscience and cognition. I graduated in 2013 and I proposed Neurofunctional tinnitus model. Nowadays I am governing NEurocognitive Engineering Lab(NEL) as a Ph.D. student and project manager.
Several projects has beed defined in NEL to launch a predictive model in cognitive rehabilitation and individualize treatment planer. Currently NEL executing three different FAPESP granted project , Multidisciplinary Tinnitus Rehabilitation (MTR) project, Hearing aid Evaluation and screening Kiosk Pilot study in developing country.
NEL also developed several agreements with Iran, USA, Germany and UK universities to develop Cognitive rehabilitation platform.

Design, validation and implementation of Multidisciplinary Tinnitus Rehabilitation (MTR) Package, Descrição: Identification of brain structures and mechanisms involved in tinnitus phenomena by means of clinical assessments as Tinnitus questionnaires, patient histories, audiological tests, physiological tests, High definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS) and resting state fMRI-QEEG is the main objective of current proposal, which are defined in WP1 and WP2 of the MTR project. The Researchers aim to identify the brain structures and mechanisms involved in theoretical Neurofunctional tinnitus model via analyzing data from clinical and functional records, such as tinnitus questionnaires, medical, audiological and physiological tests, HD-tDCS brain stimulation and resting state-fMRI-QEEG. Acquired data may lead to develop Tinnitus brain connectivity network and its casualty states and projections. Abstract: Tinnitus has been described as the conscious perception of a sound, usually hissing or ringing, in the absence of an external sound source. It is a frequent experience in adults, especially the elderly which indicate that 30% of the general population is affected by tinnitus, and that 6% of them (1.8% of the general population) have clinical symptoms (Heller 2003), and in children is found tinnitus in 31% of 506 children from 5-12 years old, and 19% suffered with tinnitus(Mills, Albert et al. 1986, Coelho, Sanchez et al. 2007, Savastano 2007). In many cases tinnitus becomes a serious and chronic problem, reported as annoying up to severely affecting the quality of life. Over the last few decades, several hypotheses have been proposed to explain tinnitus, and few survived scientific criticisms and achieved relatively wide acceptance by the academic and clinical community. The major requirement to design a novel and effective tinnitus treatment method is to have intensive knowledge about the cause(s) of tinnitus appearance. As far as brain functional connectivity is concerned, methods aimed at identifying some links between spatially-distributed brain regions from current knowledge of tinnitus (literature review and data mining in structural, functional, experimental, cognitive and clinical research reports) have received much attention. Finding an effective treatment to reduce tinnitus is a challenge. By exploring the brain function of tinnitus patients using Neurofunctional modeling, we believe that a better understanding of the neural basis underlying the tinnitus pathophysiology in addition with brain connectivity network can lead to multidisciplinary treatment approaches accordance to new categorization of tinnitus patients. With the current research, we aim a better characterization of the brain processes and networks involved in tinnitus sufferers. By considering Neurofunctional Tinnitus model compartments and electrical neuromodulation techniques, we want to assess how brain regions interact with one another and how these inter-regional interactions deviate before and after stimulation. Our main objective of this research is based on Implementation and validation of Neurofunctional tinnitus model (contains brain connectivity and processes. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Graduação: (2) / Especialização: (5) / Mestrado acadêmico: (0) / Doutorado: (2) . , Integrantes: Iman GhodratiToostani - Coordenador / alexandre delbem - Integrante / tanit ganz sancgez - Integrante / treaza pontelli - Integrante / miguel angelo hyppolito - Integrante., Financiador(es): Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo - Auxílio financeiro.
