Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the oil of different varieties of avocado grown in Brazil, Descrição: avocado can be cultivated throughout all the Brazilian territory, even in the steep terrains where the farming of another oleaginous crop is hard to carry on. Avocado oil is definitely a more productive use of the fruit. It can act as a local substitute for imported vegetable oil and as an export item both as a cooking oil or as a raw material for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. The production of avocado oil is therefore an excellent option for making value added products from this wasted produce which has high economic value due to its highly healthy composition. The objective of this project is to determine the Quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the avocado pulp oil of five different cultivars of avocado grown in Brazil: Hass, Breda, Fortuna, Quintal, Margarida, and to identify which has greatest potential for oil extraction. Avocado oil has been reported to lower cholesterol level maintain skin elasticity and reduce the coronary heart risk . Avocado oil is also widely used in the food industry, cosmetics and health products because of its unique characteristics. The use of avocado oil for biodiesel production is, nowadays, under research. Adulteration Detection of Syrian Vergen Olive Oil by using HPLC for Triglycerides, GC/MS for essential oils and color detection, Descrição: Individual triglyceride (TG) species were separated and identified qualitatively and quantitavely from the following samples: 1. Syrian virgin olive oil: samples were taken from four main Syrian Governorates producing virgin olive oil: Edleb, Homs, Latakia, and Dara?. 2. Plant seed oils (soybean, sunflower, corn, and cottonseed). 3. A mixture of each adulterated plant seed oil at certain percentages (1, 2.5, 5, 10, 20% w/w) with the virgin olive oil of the four governorates. From this study it was concluded that: a. Three TG species: LLL, LOL, and PLL are presented at very low levels in Syrian virgin olive oil (0.18- 0.32%, 1.94- 3.55%, 0.51- 1.14%) and at very high levels in plant seed oils (28.00- 16.43%, 20.71- 12.84%, 21.32- 13.40%). b. An adulteration of Syrian virgin olive oil with a low content (>1%w/w) of these plant seed oils can be detected significantly by increasing The levels of LLL (<0.50%) , LOL, and PLL in virgin olive oil c. By comparing the TG ranges of LLL, LOL, and PLL. Qualitative adulteration detection can be observed easily.
