Strain Sensor Filament and Extruder Design, Descrição: Nowadays, as the increasing demand for wearable devices, the research in flexible conductive materials becomes more and more important and urgent for both consumer and enterprise. The traditional electrode material is mainly metal, which is primarily rigid and heavy metal material and not light and flexible for wearable devices. The most common method to modified metal material property is to reduce the layer thickness or change to ripple structure design, which would be a very complicate production process with high cost. Those methods are very complicated and expensive. Carbon nanotubes and graphene have been shown good flexibility and excellent conductivity. In addition, they have demonstrated chemical stability, thermal stability and optical transparency with great applicational potential in the field of flexible conductive materials. In this research project, the new stretchable filament is made of SBS-rubber and Conductive-TPU in 7:3 ratio with a customized extruder. By repetitively changing the length of filament, the variation of resistance has been recorded and analyzed. in addition, a relatively accurate mathematical model has been developed, according to the elongation ? resistance curve. The study also shows that various aspects of the temperature-resistance response, including non-linear hysteretic behavior and temperature dependence of electrical resistivity, pose challenges to sensor design. Though the accuracy of the stain sensors is still under development, several recommendations are made with regarding to effective device design.. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Graduação: (1) / Doutorado: (1) . , Integrantes: Renato da Veiga Torres - Coordenador / Zehui Cheng - Integrante., Número de produções C, T & A: 1

Automatic Humidity Test Machine using Open Source Hardware, Descrição: The main scope of this project is to automate an existing sample test machine. Main idea of the sample test machine is to measure the resistance of sample in the existing different humidity environment. And based on the resistance the reliability of the developed sample with the humidity is studied. To measure the Humidity of the developed environment DHT22 (Humidity Sensors) are used. There are 10 different humidity environment developed by different salt chambers. The existing Sample test machine was measured and controlled manually. That results in large manpower and time consumption. The motive of our project is to automate the manual control over the machine. It involves, Reading sensor data, Switching between inputs (Samples), Serial communication of Controller with DMM MX554, Timing control over the machine, Logging Data in SD card and Wi-Fi The developed automated machine initially gets connected to Wi-Fi by reading the user name and password from SD configuration file making the machine soft coded. After self- configuration of Wi-Fi it asks for the user-defined time the machine need to be operated. As soon the users define the time and start the machine the process begin. The process involves the successive reading of ten reference sensor and samples from one to ten and storing it in SD card and logging to Wi-Fi for future interpretation along with the Real time clock.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Mestrado acadêmico: (2) Doutorado: (1) . , Integrantes: Renato da Veiga Torres - Coordenador / Jagan Athi Lingam Murugaraj - Integrante / Manish Sudeshkumar - Integrante.

Investigation of Resistance and Elongation Dependency for Latex/Carbon Nanotubes Composites / Development of Nanocomposite based Sensing Filaments, Descrição: The purpose of this research project is the fabrication of a Nano-composites based stretchable filament strain sensor and its characterization, also the optimization of a labor-extruder is an important part during the research. As the rising demand of wearable device, the stretchable sensors are getting more valuable and widely demanded. So this research about a stretchable sensor become very necessary. In this project, multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes(MWCNT), graphene and silver powder were applied as conductive filler and natural rubber(NR), polycaprolactone(PCL) and SBS as stretchable polymer matrix. Even a kind of conductive material for 3D printer was chosen to help us find the way to make the stretchable filament. All of them was mixed with different concentration to do the comparison. Both wet spinning method and extrusion (melt spinning) method were applied, also, a pneumatic device and a special made extruder were used in the experimental process. The characterization of samples includes Temperature-Resistance examination and Length-Resistance examination. The program to do the temperature test has been processed and a platform to realize the switch, which can let 5 samples be measured at the same time, was designed and factored.. , Situação: Concluído; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Alunos envolvidos: Mestrado acadêmico: (1) Doutorado: (1) . , Integrantes: Renato da Veiga Torres - Coordenador / Junyi Liang - Integrante., Número de produções C, T & A: 1
