  Social Control and Communication Theory Lab - SCCTLab, Descrição: O projeto objetiva unir os estudos de Controle Social e da Teoria da Comunicação 1) analisando como o controle social funciona dentro da estrutura da comunicação, mídia e linguagem, e vice-versa, como a comunicação, mídia e linguagem funcionam dentro da estrutura dos mecanismos de controle social, explorando a gama de tipos de controle do mais informal ao mais formal, bem como preencher as lacunas das fronteiras disciplinares; 2) pesquisar e construir historiografias sobre formas e mecanismos de controle esquecidos e novos por meio dos estudos de comunicação e outras tradições disciplinares que a constituem ou não; 3) pesquisar como o controle social impacta na difusão, comunicação e construção do conhecimento e inovação ao longo do tempo; 4) construir histórias intelectuais globais (inter)disciplinares focadas nos usos do conceito de controle e comunicação; 5) avançar nas teorias sobre como a sociedade é regulada e controlada por meio da comunicação e também avançar na teorização sobre novos métodos de testar teorias sobre comunicação e controle; 6) contribuir para sintetizar literatura e conhecimento por meio da organização histórica do campo em termos de controle social e, assim, poder analisar tensões e possibilidades de diálogo entre tradições de conhecimento em ciência da comunicação; 7) avançar o conhecimento teórico da ciência da comunicação de forma pragmática, ou seja, como o conhecimento teórico pode nos ajudar a melhorar problemas acadêmicos e sociais persistentes; 8) ajudar a criar uma identidade mais forte para o curso de ciências da comunicação em conexão com uma conversa global em meio às ciências sociais.. , Situação: Em andamento; Natureza: Pesquisa. , Integrantes: Wagner Piassaroli Mantovaneli - Coordenador / Jose Antonio Martinuzzo - Integrante / James J Chriss - Integrante / Edgar Rebouças - Integrante.

  Jean Monnet Chair of European Media Governance and Integration, Descrição: Understanding the ways in which European integration has reflected developments in the governance of media and cultural spaces in the continent, the role of European institutions in shaping mediascapes and the impact of constitutional and institutional change in the EU to respond to citizens? political demands are three core areas of research, teaching and public debate led by Prof Sarikakis and the Media Governance Lab. This work focuses on recent European history in the light of actual and perceived crises: financial, migration, EU membership, and legitimacy of governance. The study of and debate about the extraordinary challenges to European integration faced by EU institutions and citizens today are urgently in need of systematic study and public understanding. The Jean Monnet Chair of European Media Governance and Integration has pursued a programme of teaching, research and outreach activities which brought together an interdisciplinary focus on under-researched dimensions of the political, social and institutional integration of European countries. In particular, it addressed the conceptual and practice-formed areas of communicative spaces and governance of communication as the field of political praxis, whether institutional or citizen mobilised, the space of cultural expression as one of the most significant factors of identity formation and participation, the role of symbolically framed or perceived, and structurally constructed crises with which the European project is called to engage. Within the duration of the programme, the Chair sought to engage academic rigour and research with forms of public communication.   Olive: Open Learning Initiative, Descrição: OLIve is a free of charge, academic, bilingual (German, English) non-degree programme for people of refugee and asylum seeking status with the aim to provide support in connecting their previous professional and academic experience to their new lives in Europe, including and in particular aiming at the possibility of entering higher education studies at a later stage. OLIve is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission and realised by the Media Governance and Industries Research Lab at the Department of Communication of the University of Vienna, in cooperation with the CEU ? Central European University, Budapest, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, Bard college Berlin, Germany and the University of East London. OLIve is one of the core elements of the Refugee Educational Initiatives.   Media Governance and Industries Research Lab, Descrição: Our aims are to investigate intersections and interfaces between media industries and media governance and their impact for the exercise of political, cultural, economic and social citizenship. We approach media governance as the sum of processes, institutions and values that form a policy 'regime', which may or may not involve regulatory or 'hard law' elements. Our research explores the ways in which changes and continuities in the media industries and their technological and political economic dimensions are impacted upon by media governance practices and values in their national, local, translocal and global dimensions. Moreover, we extend our investigation to connect the micro and meso levels of citizenship and everyday life to the governance of macrolevel communication and cultural industry structures. Our academic backgrounds are in media and communication studies, political science, sociology, history, cultural studies and philosophy.
