  Visualisation and dynamic analysis of medieval writing processes in the context of neurological diseases and disorders, Descrição: Detecting and differentiating the signs of neurological conditions in historical handwriting is challenging, since only static writing samples survive. We have lost valuable information about the dynamic features of writing (e.g. the speed of writing; accelerations and decelerations during writing; and the pressure applied to the writing implement), which would be useful for the diagnosis of the condition. Knowing the speed of writing, in particular, is useful for tremor classification, since establishing the frequency of the tremor can help to differentiate between different neurological conditions.   DeepEyes: Solucões de Computacão Visual e Inteligência de Máquina para Computacão Forense e Vigilância Eletrônica, Projeto certificado pelo(a) coordenador(a) Anderson de Rezende Rocha em 05/07/2015., Descrição: Atividades criminais variam em escopo e complexidade, mas existem em todos os setores da sociedade. Com o desenvolvimento tecnologico, os crimes tornaram-se mais sofisticados migrando do mundo fsico e atingindo, tambem, o mundo virtual. Diante das inumeras formas que as atividades ilegais podem tomar, a sada para a sociedade moderna esta no investimento em tecnicas de investigacao aprimoradas e cientificamente fundamentadas. Com demandas tao sofisticadas e cada vez mais complexas, vem a obrigacao de se fortalecer cada vez mais as bases sobre as quais a Ciencia Forense se desenvolve. Mais do que nunca, precisamos de criterios objetivos e cientificamente em basados para identificar caractersticas em locais de crimes e acidentes, ou mesmo para prevenir a ocorrencia de crimes, tomando acoes preventivas efetivas de vigilancia eletronica. Precisamos de abordagens inovadoras e condizentes com os desafios atuais para nos ajudar a resolver as tres questoes basicas a respeito de uma atividade ilegal ou um acidente de larga escala: ?Quem?, ?Em que Circunstancias? e ?Por que?. Diante de tantos desafios, este projeto CAPES Pro-Forenses N 25/2014 visa ao desenvolvimento de solucoes algortmicas de computacao visual e inteligencia de maquina para problemas ligados a computacao forense, a seguranca digital e a vigilancia eletronica. Os problemas de interesse sao: (P1) deteccao de falsificacoes em imagens e vdeos digitais; (P2) atribuicao de fonte de captura de dados tais como camera, scanner, impressora; (P3) deteccao de plantacoes clandestinas de e.g., Cannabis sativa a partir de imagens de sensoriamento remoto; (P4) desenvolvimento de tecnicas de identificacao humana a partir de faces; (P5) reconhecimento de placas de veculos a partir de vdeos digitais; e (P6) analise de atividades em vdeos digitais.   Gestão da identidade utilizando dados biométricos (UFRN/Propesq - PVB9148-2013), Descrição: A identificação automática de indivíduos (baseada em dados biométricos) vem sendo utilizada numa crescente gama de aplicações e em diversas áreas, como por exemplo cenários forense, controle de acesso, identificação de indivíduos, etc. No entanto, o desenvolvimento desses sistemas de uma forma práticos pode apresentar grandes desafios. A escolha do tipo de dado biométrico a ser adotado (e que tipo de dado, biométrico ou semi-biométrico, por exemplo), assim como as técnicas de identificação mais eficiente e os sensores mais adequados, são considerações importantes, e podem ter um impacto crucial no resultado final. Além do lado computacional, a interação com o lado psicológico (das biometrias comportamentais) e com o aspecto biológico (das biometrias fisiológicas) possuem uma grande influência na identificação do indivíduo.   Coleta e análise de uma nova base de dados multibiométrica baseada em métricas comportamentais da mão (CNPq Universal 14/2013 - 472717/2013-8), Descrição: Autenticação em ambientes de segurança não é mais feita unicamente atravez de senhas ou documentos de identificação em consequencia do aumento da diversidade de situações na qual precisamos comprovar quem somos. O uso de métricas humanas que reconhecem unicamente o indivíduo (biometrias) foi a solução encontrada para esse problema, porém, um foco muito grande tem sido dado a características fisiologicas e as modalidades comportamentais, que apesar de conterem bastante informação sobre o indivíduo, tem sido negligenciadas.   Security for all: Using smart technologies to promote security for citizens, Descrição: The protection of cities and their population is a most important requirement for national and regional governments, and for the well-being of citizens. Advances in forensic sciences have provided effective crime detection and prevention techniques which can be easily accessed in the so-called "first world? countries, but this is not generally the case for countries which are still in development. Through the Newton Research Collaboration Programme, we propose to enhance the way in which easy-to-use, flexible and reliable technology-assisted individual identification can improve security and quality of life for citizens. This will be realised by ensuring that perpetrators of crime are identified and ordinary citizens better able to engage safely in everyday activities, using smart technology to make crime detection and prevention more efficient, robust and cost-effective. Consequently, this will improve the lives of all citizens and create a better and more stable living environment while having significant direct economic impact and freeing resources for other purposes.
