    Step-count guidelines, Descrição: The purpose of this project is to measure the ability of step-counts to discriminate between adequate and inadequate physical activity levels and establish step-count guidelines for middle school students.CDC recommends a minimum of 60-minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity daily. However, these guidelines may not be easily understood by children, adolescents, or their parents. Restructuring current guidelines to step-counts may facilitate their use. The development of step-count guidelines will simplify current guidelines making it easier to identify adolescents not reaching adequate physical activity levels. This study employs a fully cross-sectional design. A minimum of 250 sixth grade students will participate in the project. Participants will wear a pedometer and an accelerometer for one full day, record the number of steps on the activity log, and return devices and log to school on the subsequent day. The accelerometer output will provide duration and intensity of exercise.
