Civil Society Report of the UN International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the World, 2001-2010, Descrição: The World Report on the Culture of Peace is being done by a youth team. The initial members of the team were Marcos Estrada from Brazil, Cecile Barbeito from Spain and Meg Villanueva from the Philippines. Other youth have joined the team by mobilizing responses for the Report from their own regions or areas of interest. At the local level, I have helped develop social and educational programmes in partnership with the private sector, local governments, civil society members and international organisations. All these initiatives are aimed at raising awareness, creating understanding, strengthening tolerance, and promoting solidarity in response to the needs of local communities. Lack of knowledge about the other, mainly about ethnic and religious differences, has been at the root of exclusion and discrimination of people. Also, I have represented IBEV in conferences within and outside Brazil seeking to develop networks with partners such as private companies, local governments and other NGOs. At the international level, along with prominent and respected professionals, with a solid experience in social projects and leadership skills, I participated in the teacher training project ?Pedagogy of Encouragement: Peace and sustainability for the 21st Century.?

From 2005 to 2007, I assisted in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the socio-environmental program ?ECOmmunity?, In Brazil. The program was comprised of 6 projects: schools, small rural producers, internal collaborators, NGOs, a visitation program and the alliance with other projects. In this program I was responsible for recruiting and managing the group of volunteers; as well as, I was also entirely responsible for the project involving youth at the high risk situation.
