Possui graduação em Física pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul(1967), mestrado em Física pelo Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas(1972), doutorado em Fisica Matematica pela King's College University Of London(1975) e pós-doutorado pela Queen Elizabeth College University Of London(1979). Tem experiência na área de Astronomia, com ênfase em Astrofísica Estelar. Atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas:Equacoes de Campo, Espacos Complexos, Solucoes Exatas.
