  Metanálise filogenética e evolução das estratégias de polinização especializadas em Iridoideae com ênfase em Tigridieae, Trimezieae e Sisyrinchieae (Iridaceae), Descrição: Nosso grupo de pesquisa vem desenvolvendo estudos que permitem evidenciar a seleção de caracteres que interagiram durante o curso da evolução na geração de determinados padrões de biodiversidade (Chauveau et al., 2011; Chauveau et al., 2012, Silvério et al., 2012). As flores constituem o principal fator de evolução das Angiospermas, o grupo mais evoluído das plantas terrestres. Tais estruturas reprodutivas exclusivas desse grupo vegetal e sua interação com polinizadores animais representam provavelmente a chave do sucesso e da diversificação das Angiospermas. Esse projeto de pesquisa científica propõe investigar a evolução floral relacionada a polinizadores em espécies pertencentes às Iridoideae americanas, uma das maiores subfamílias de Iridaceae, a qual abrange cinco tribos e cerca de 900 espécies. Embora representem somente 42% da riqueza de espécies da subfamília, as três tribos americanas (Sisyrinchieae, Trimezieae, Tigridieae) caracterizam-se pela evolução de uma estratégia de polinização especializada e pouco comum com base em secreção de óleos florais. A maioria das espécies distribui-se na área Neotropical, que constitui o segundo maior centro de diversificação da família, e a polinização por recursos lipídicos pode estar relacionada com a diversificação da família nessa área. Desvendar a história e o mecanismo de diversificação floral neste contexto específico não vai apenas esclarecer aspectos pertinentes a momentos chave no decorrer da evolução das Angiospermas, mas também irá fornecer evidências inestimáveis sobre o sucesso da diversificação de Iridaceae na região Neotropical. Com o desenvolvimento da presente proposta, objetiva-se esclarecer os processos evolutivos e de desenvolvimento que moldaram a diversidade floral nas Iridoideae Americanas. O estudo pretende avaliar a importância do surgimento de estruturas florais produtoras de óleo na diversificação da família Iridaceae nos Neotrópicos e fornecer uma primeira avaliação do grau de dependência entre as espécies de Iridaceae e polinizadores especializados na coleta de óleos florais, evidenciando relações ecológicas de grande relevância no manejo e conservação de ambientes naturais. Foram definidas duas abordagens para direcionar as questões de múltiplas perspectivas. Em uma primeira abordagem, será gerada uma mega matriz de dados moleculares para a reconstrução de uma filogenia exaustivamente amostrada para as três tribos americanas da subfamília Iridoideae, incluindo pelo menos 293 das cerca de 377 espécies aceitas atualmente, assim como 17 marcadores moleculares. Essa abordagem, portanto, visa fornecer uma estrutura filogenética bem suportada para testar hipóteses de evolução floral. Na segunda estratégia a ser utilizada, será revisada a diversidade de morfologias florais no grupo de estudo, combinando dados da literatura com novas observações compiladas em uma base de dados inovadora para gerar a primeira base de dados morfológicos e anatômicos desse grupo de plantas, seguindo a mesma estratégia de amostragem exaustiva utilizada na primeira abordagem. Esse eixo do estudo visa reconstruir a história evolutiva da diversificação floral utilizando uma base de dados detalhada, métodos de reconstrução da evolução de caracteres e métodos comparativos.   Relações filogenéticas e história evolutiva de tricomas glandulares com recompensa lipídica em Cipurinae (Iridaceae: Iridoideae: Tigridieae) da Região da Bacia do Rio Paraná, com base em novas sequências de DNA nuclear e dados morfológicos, Descrição: O estudo será centrado em um clado de Tigrideae (Iridaceae), com o objetivo de caracterizar sistematicamente os diferentes recursos florais produzidos pelas espécies e adicionar estas informações em um conjunto de dados morfológicos, visando identificar as mais significativas mudanças em estados de caractere na filogenia produzida, e circunscrever de modo robusto os diferentes gêneros.   Phylogeny and evolution of pollination systems within the Tigridieae (Iridaceae: Iridoideae), Descrição: Floral oils are the third type of pollination reward in Iridaceae, coming after pollen and nectar. Among the 11 families of Angiosperms where oil-secreting structures called elaiophores evolved, the Iridaceae are characterized by multiple transitions towards the presence of these structures, with few species providing both oil and nectar from different kinds of floral glandular structures. Most transitions towards the presence of elaiophores occur among the Tigridieae but the phylogenetic relationships within the tribe remain poorly understood. This multidisciplinary project is part of the BIBLIOTHEQUE DU VIVANT project and aims to investigate the evolutionary history of floral glandular structures among the Tigridieae distributed in the Paranaensic region, which is the major center of diversification of the tribe in South America. Analyses based on six cpDNA markers and four nuclear markers will be conducted to investigate the phylogenetic relationships. This framework will be used to trace the evolution of pollination rewards among the Tigridieae of the Paranaensic region. This project includes 4600 sequencing runs for DNA sequence analyses. Except the transition observed in the subfamily Crocoideae for a single species of Tritionopsis from South Africa, the other independent origins of oil-offering flowers concern strictly American taxa of Iridioideae. Due to incomplete samplings of genera and lack of representativeness among the genera showing the most important species diversity, the phylogenetic and taxonomical relationships inside the American tribes Trimezieae and Tigridieae remain poorly understood, preventing us to identify accurately all the transitions toward oil-bee pollination within these tribes.   Systematics and evolution of floral oil-producing structures within the Iridoideae (Iridaceae), Descrição: This work aimed at better understanding the evolution of the pollination strategies related to floral oil-secretion not only in the general context of the subfamily but also at a lower taxonomic level. Sisyrinchium, the largest genus in the New World Iridoideae, including species with oil-producing flowers and species with only pollen flowers, was selected for the second part of this study. Phylogenetic analyses were combined with micro-morphological and functional characterizations of the floral structures potentially involved in plant-pollinator interactions within the genus.The results showed that elaiophores evolved several times at both taxonomic levels and that this homoplastic character has played a key role in the diversification of the family on the American continent.   Systématique et évolution du genre Sisyrinchium (Iridaceae) [Tradução do título para o português: Sistemática e evolução do gênero Sisyrinchium L. (Iridaceae)], Descrição: Aims of the project: 1) Molecular phylogeny and barcode: Phylogenetic analyses based on eight molecular markers obtained from 275 Sisyrinchium accessions representing 102 species are conducted in the first extensive phylogenetic analysis of the genus. 2) Micromorphological characterizations of the floral organs involved in the oil-bee pollination: among the 102 species of Sisyrinchium included in this study, 54 bear nuptial trichomes and 50 of them are studied for oil-producing trichomes. Nile Red staining, which allows the detection of lipids according to their hydrophobicity is used to obtain information about the oil content of fresh flowers at anthesis.   Biologia e evolução das espécies brasileiras de Sisyrinchium L. (Iridaceae) [CAPES/COFECUB N 550/07], Descrição: Os objetivos gerais do projeto de pesquisa desenvolvido em colaboração entre as equipes brasileira e francesa foram os seguintes: 1) Um estudo taxonômico das espécies sul-brasileiras do gênero Sisyrinchium, cujo objetivo é delimitar as espécies de maneira clara e estabelecer as respectivas posições sistemáticas no gênero.
