Cássio Victora Ruas

Possui doutorado em Ciências do Esporte e do Exercício pela Edith Cowan University, Austrália (2021). Também possui graduação em Bacharelado em Educação Física (2013) e mestrado em Ciências do Movimento Humano (2016) pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), com períodos de intercâmbio para estudar e pesquisar em três diferentes universidades dos Estados Unidos (University of Maryland, Northern State University e California State University). Trabalhou como pesquisador no laboratório de Neurofisiologia da Edith Cowan University (Austrália), no Laboratório de Desenvolvimento Motor da University of Maryland (Estados Unidos), no Centro de Performance Esportiva da California State University (Estados Unidos) e no Laboratório de Pesquisa em Exercício (LAPEX) da UFRGS como membro do Grupo de Treinamento de Força (GPTF). Nos últimos 5 anos foi professor de diversas disciplinas de graduação da Escola de Ciências Médicas e da Saúde da Edith Cowan University (Austrália), incluindo aulas de laboratório de Fisiologia do Exercício, Princípios e Práticas do Treinamento de Força, Fisiologia do Exercício Aplicada e Programação, além da supervisão de alunos nas disciplinas de Estágio Prático em Prescrição de Exercício e Ciências do Esporte. Também participou da avaliação final de alunos nas disciplinas de pós-graduação (Mestrado em Força e Condicionamento) desta mesma universidade estrangeira, bem como trabalhou na coordenação de testes de performance para identificação de jovens atletas para a Liga Nacional de Futebol Australiano (AFL). Atualmente possui posição colaborativa/honorária de Professor Adjunto na Edith Cowan University (Austrália) e atua como pesquisador no Instituto Brasileiro de Neurociências e de Neurotecnologia - CEPID BRAINN - da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Instituto de Física Gleb Wataghin - IFGW). Possui experiência nas áreas de ciências do esporte, fisiologia do exercício, neurociências e neurofisiologia humana. A sua linha de pesquisa explora as mudanças no sistema nervoso central (mensuradas por equipamentos de estimulação magnética/elétrica no córtex e/ou nervo) que ocorrem após indução de fadiga e dano neuromuscular causados pelo exercício, bem como a utilização do treinamento de força para melhorias na função e equilíbrio muscular, performance esportiva e prevenção de lesões em crianças, adultos, atletas e populações clínicas. Também desenvolve projetos que exploram protocolos de exercícios combinados a técnicas de neuromodulação no córtex motor e/ou motoneurôneos para mudanças da plasticidade neural e reabilitação do movimento de populações neurológicas, como sobreviventes de AVC e pacientes com lesão na medula espinhal.
