An Olympic City in the Making: Rio de Janeiro mega-event strategy 1993-2016, Descrição: This study documents and investigates Rio de Janeiro history of bidding for hosting mega-events and the resulting production of the emerging geography of the 2016 Games. It focuses specifically on three aspects that have shaped the city continuous efforts to attract mega-events: the political agenda motivating the candidatures; the nature of the spatial plans proposed over the years; and the mobilisation of expert knowledge from previous hosts and members of organising committees. There are few evidences of studies analysing the trajectory of failed bids and how cities respond with changes to their mega-event strategy. The Learning Legacy Agenda of London 2012, Descrição: This project examines the production and intended outcomes of the Olympic Delivery Agency?s Learning Legacy Agenda [LLA] and its relevance to urban development programmes and infrastructure projects elsewhere. The research comprises of two elements: ? The first will be to carry out a thorough textual and discourse analysis on the LLA materials. A framework of analysis will be structured around the Research Objectives outlined above and will focus on: the core aims; key understandings of regeneration, sustainability, and legacy; the target audiences for LLA?s outputs; and the forms of knowledge dissemination that are deployed. It will also draw upon an assessment of the texts as documents, including an analysis of the layout, use of imagery, and deployment of external knowledge sources. ? The second element involves an institutional mapping exercise that seeks to locate the networks of organisations and individuals that have been involved in the production of the LLA. The process of institutional mapping of this sort is intended to provide an overview of institutional and governance structures.
